A fast-growing design-build manufacturer is seeking a strategic and hands-on Logistics Manager to lead and expand its nationwide transportation operations. This role will oversee company-owned fleet logistics, third-party carriers, and a small but growing team of drivers and logistics professionals. The position is being created due to rapid growth and will be instrumental in developing a scalable logistics infrastructure as the company continues to grow!This is an opportunity to build something from the ground up—designing systems, processes, and KPIs for a business unit that will operate as its own standalone logistics entity in the near future.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute a long-term logistics strategy that supports the company’s expansion and transition toward more self-performed freight operations.Lead and mentor logistics personnel, including CDL drivers, a logistics supervisor, and a coordinator.Manage all inbound and outbound shipments across the U.S., balancing internal fleet and third-party carrier utilization.Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, and safety regulations.Oversee fleet management, including acquisition, maintenance, and optimization.Monitor and improve KPIs such as cost per mile, on-time delivery, and fleet utilization.Build operational processes and policies for a newly established logistics business unit.Partner cross-functionally with manufacturing, procurement, and project management teams to ensure seamless scheduling and delivery execution.Manage budget, expenses, and vendor billing with a focus on improving ROI and operational efficiency.Identify and mitigate logistics risks and supply chain disruptions through proactive planning and data-driven decision making. Desired Skills And ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.10+ years of logistics or transportation management experience, including fleet and driver oversight.Proven ability to build or scale logistics operations rather than simply maintain existing ones.Strong understanding of DOT/FMCSA compliance and fleet safety programs.Experience managing both internal fleet operations and third-party logistics providers.Financial and analytical acumen with P&L or budget management responsibility.ERP and TMS proficiency; experience implementing systems or process improvements preferred.Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills.Hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable working in a rapidly evolving environment.
