Job Purpose:The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and optimal functioning of all heavy equipment, machinery, and vehicles used in shipbuilding and dry dock operations. The role requires a strong leader with a background in managing large maintenance teams, preferably from a major construction or heavy engineering company, who can establish preventive maintenance programs and ensure high equipment uptime to support smooth ship construction and repair activities.Key Responsibilities:1. Maintenance Planning & ManagementDevelop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all equipment, cranes, forklifts, generators, vehicles, and other machinery used in shipbuilding operations.Plan, prioritize, and supervise maintenance activities to minimize downtime and disruptions.Ensure all maintenance work is executed as per manufacturer recommendations and safety standards.2. Team LeadershipLead and manage a large team of technicians, mechanics, electricians, and supervisors.Allocate tasks, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to timelines and quality standards.Coach and develop maintenance staff to build technical capability and accountability.3. Equipment & Vehicle ManagementOversee inspection, servicing, and repair of all heavy and light vehicles, hydraulic systems, welding machines, lifting equipment, compressors, and fabrication tools.Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure equipment availability for operational requirements.Coordinate with the procurement team for spare parts, consumables, and service contracts.4. Safety & ComplianceEnforce strict adherence to HSE policies during maintenance and repair work.Conduct regular inspections to identify and mitigate safety hazards or equipment risks.Ensure compliance with local statutory regulations and dry dock safety standards.5. Budget & Cost ControlPrepare annual maintenance budgets and control maintenance costs within approved limits.Optimize spare parts inventory and vendor contracts for cost efficiency.Analyze equipment failure trends and propose cost-effective technical solutions.6. Coordination & ReportingCollaborate with shipbuilding, operations, and logistics teams to align maintenance priorities.Generate regular reports on equipment status, maintenance KPIs, and downtime analysis.Recommend equipment upgrades or replacements to improve operational performance.Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Marine Engineering or related discipline.8-10 years of experience in maintenance management, with at least 5 years in a managerial role handling large teams in construction, heavy engineering, or shipyard industries.Strong experience in maintaining heavy equipment, cranes, forklifts, trucks, compressors, and other mechanical assets.Proven record in setting up maintenance systems and preventive maintenance programs.Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
