Reed Talent Solutions are partnering with the Metropolitan Police Service to recruit 6 Management Accountants on a permanent basis.Founded by Sir Robert Peel in 1829, the Metropolitan Police Service is one of the oldest police services in the world. From the beginning, the purpose of the Met has been to serve and protect the people of London by providing a professional police service.Today, the MPS is made up of more than 46,000 officers and staff, plus thousands of volunteers. The territory served covers 620 square miles and is home to over 9 million people.Their management accounting and strategic finance teams are going through a large-scale transformation which has created an opportunity to join the UK’s largest Police force.The Management Accountant is responsible for supporting the delivery of robust, transparent, and timely financial management information and insight, including monthly management accounts, forecasts, dashboards, and analysis of options to inform decision-making.The role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data, actively identifies financial risks and opportunities, and provides a clear narrative on the financial position, grounded in a sound understanding of the business groups and their objectives.You will maintain collaborative, customer-focused relationships across the wider finance community, particularly with finance business partners, working across boundaries to ensure consistent and constructive support to the business.This role will be based in Queens Park (NW6) and will be hybrid working with 3 days on site per week.Key Result AreasDeliver timely and accurate monthly management reporting, providing financial performance updates and ensuring reports reflect an up-to-date and accurate view of the business area's position.Produce financial analysis and insight that is forward-looking and proactiveInterpret and advise on the correct accounting treatment of complex transactions,Lead and oversee the delivery of month-end processesProactively recommend and influence corrective actionsContribute to external audit, statutory reporting and policy complianceEnsure effective financial controls are in placeChampion continuous improvementSupport and develop Assistant Management AccountantsThe ideal candidate CCAB Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, ACA or equivalent). Part qualified will be considered if actively studying and experience is strong.Understanding of public sector financial planning and performance reporting, financial controls, and relevant statutory frameworks.Strong financial analysis and modelling skills with excellent attention to detail.Able to communicate financial information effectively to non-specialists.Skilled in relationship building and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.Proficient in Excel and comfortable learning and adapting to new systems.Experience in delivering management accounts, forecasts, and financial reporting.Experience managing or mentoring junior staff desirableThe PackageSalary: The starting salary is £60,893, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.Pension: Civil Service ALPHA (CARE) pension included (28.97% employer’s contribution)Annual leave: 28 days + bank holidays (rising to 33 days after 5 years service)If you have the right skills and experience for this role, apply now and we’ll be in touch.
