ROLE OVERVIEW //We are recruiting for an Assistant to join our busy Financial Planning & Analysis team within the Finance Department based at the firm’s head office in London. This is an entry-level permanent opportunity.Primarily this role will work in the areas of Business Intelligence and Financial Reporting and will report to the Senior FP&A Manager. The successful candidate will work with stakeholders across the Business Services teams, including closely with Technology (IT), Pricing & Analytics (P&A) and Business Development (BD).The role will involve working to an exceptionally high standard as part of a team, communicating with senior management, partners and associate lawyers. The work will often involve innovative thinking and tight deadlines, but will provide the opportunity to engage closely with the business and stretch the successful candidate’s knowledge and capabilities.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES //The key responsibilities of this role are set out below and there may be others which are not listed. This role may require some working outside our normal working hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm.Preparing and delivering management information to Partners and Business Services leaders, allowing them to make key commercial decisions related to performance at matter, client and legal department levelWorking closely with the Technology team to ensure continued development and implementation of reportingDriving efficiencies through automation of existing financial reportsUnderstanding law firm metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and explaining these to others across the firmInterpretation of key trends to deliver thoughtful commercial insightCANDIDATE PROFILE //Candidates for this position must have:Educated to degree level (in a relevant finance related subject e.g. Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Accountancy)Experience of working in a Professional Services environment is beneficial but not essentialExperience of using visualisation tools, e.g. Power BI, would be beneficialAdvanced Excel skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, PowerPoint)Team player, with the ability to work in an independent manner when required, but also happy to share knowledge, delegate, and be delegated to Highly numerateA questioning mind (e.g. the ability to spot quirks in the data and an active desire to rationalize these)A keen interest in global affairs / commerce / new technology and how these could impact the legal sector Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to multi-task, keep calm under pressure and work to tight deadlinesThe ability to build strong business relationships with internal clients and the resilience to deal with demanding individualsExcellent attention to detail and a good use of grammarExcellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work to meet demandsExperience of working in a diverse team whilst fostering an inclusive team cultureA high level of professionalism and integrity; displays the highest standards of professional ethics
