Management AccountantOverviewWe are seeking a Management Accountant to join the finance team of a leading construction and project delivery business. This is a key, hands-on role responsible for producing accurate and timely management accounts, supporting project cost reporting, and providing financial insight to operational and commercial teams.The successful candidate will combine strong accounting discipline with the ability to partner closely with project managers, QS, and operational leaders to support decision-making, monitor performance, and ensure robust financial control across multiple projects and entities.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.Take ownership of the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with group deadlines.Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure appropriate journal postings, accruals, and prepayments.Support the preparation of annual budgets and periodic reforecasts.Assist with year-end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors as required.Monitor project costs and profitability, working closely with QS and project teams to review budgets versus actuals.Review WIP (Work in Progress) schedules, ensuring revenue and cost recognition align with project milestones.Support project cash flow forecasting and variance analysis.Provide financial support and insight to commercial managers to drive efficiency and margin improvement.Oversee AP/AR accuracy relating to project costs and supplier payments.Ensure purchase orders and cost allocations are aligned to the correct projects and budgets.Key RequirementsQualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a management accounting role, ideally within construction, engineering, or project-based industries.Strong communication skills with a commercial and problem-solving mindset.
