Job SummaryReporting to the Director, Safety, this position supports safety at Porter Airlines through oversight of its Emergency Response Plan.Duties & ResponsibilitiesSpecific Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited ToEvaluate industry standards and best practices for aviation emergency preparedness, and make recommendations for the continuous improvement of the Porter emergency response programMaintain the Emergency Response Manual and related documentation (eg. Family Assistance Plan, Aircraft Recovery Plan); issue and track amendments to emergency response team and stakeholdersTrack and update contacts for emergency response stakeholdersAdminister initial and recurrent training for emergency response team membersEnsure compliance with all regulatory requirements and IATA/ICAO standards related to emergency response, post-accident family assistanceAssume responsibility for oversight of post-accident family assistance processes defined in the Porter Emergency Response Plan including those in support of codeshare partner airlinesAdminister emergency response tabletops and drills; participate in stakeholder exercisesParticipate in audits of station and stakeholder emergency preparednessMaintain the confidentiality of organizational safety reporting systemsActively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understanding, complying with and promoting the Company Safety Policy and Non-Punitive Reporting PolicyAny other duties as assignedBehavioural CompetenciesConcern for Safety: Identifying hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for self and others.Teamwork: Working collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals.Passenger/Customer Service: Providing service excellence to internal and/or external customers (passengers).Initiative: Dealing with situations and issues proactively and persistently, seizing opportunities that arise.Results Focus: Focusing efforts on achieving high quality results consistent with the organization’s standards.Fostering Communication: Listening and communicating openly, honestly, and respectfully with different audiences, promoting dialogue and building consensus.Exemplifying Integrity: Treating others fairly, honestly, and respectfully, furthering the integrity of the organization and its relationships of trust with team members and the broader community.Inspiring Others: Energizing and inspiring others to strive for excellence and commit to common goals and purposes, creating a sense of self-efficacy, resilience, and persistence in followers.People Leadership: Assuming a leadership role in helping others achieve excellent results.Leading Change: Recognizing the need for change, being open to new ideas and methods, and championing transformational change within the organization and beyond.QualificationsExcellent working knowledge of Transport Canada, TSBC, NTSB, ICAO and IATA requirements for aviation emergency preparedness and post-accident humanitarian assistanceA minimum of 5 years of experience with commercial flight operationsExperience in the development, implementation and promotion of aviation emergency response programsExcellent leadership, time management, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills; keen attention to detailA working background in project managementUniversity degree, IATA airline emergency planning and response training certification, and/or acceptable combination of education, training and/or related work experienceAbility to secure and maintain restricted airport security clearanceMust maintain a valid passport; must be able to travel domestically and internationally when required on short noticeLocationToronto (Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport - YTZ)Company DescriptionSince 2006, Porter Airlines has been elevating the experience of economy air travel for every passenger, providing genuine hospitality with style, care and charm.
