Global engineering leader / specialist testingOur client is a global provider of specialist testing solutions and equipment for the HVAC, automotive and energy transition markets. With acknowledged leadership in design, engineering and assembly headquartered in Manchester, the company is seeking to hire its next Managing Director, to build on notable market successes and reputation, reporting to non-UK based diversified group. Requirement to address market disruption through process evolution and additional revenue streams founded on top-notch engineering capability, empowered workforce and project delivery capability. Compelling opportunity for enterprising, commercial, technically-based leader and general / divisional manager to shape strategy and execution to enhanced outcomes with autonomy. The role:P+L accountability across multi-£m global revenues and all functions, including remote operations in AmericasEmpower and energise 80+ engineering-, design- and project-oriented workforce with strong quality ethos / credentialsRefine and embed process transparency for enhanced commercial decision-making and revenue generationLead and build on top-notch connections into automotive, HVAC and hydrogen vacuum testing communities worldwideCross-functional end-to-end impact to drive response to market evolution; leverage group resources meaningfullyDrive optimised operating model following capabilities review; motivate and mentor dispersed teams to next levelChallenging, genuine MD remit across strategic and day-to-day dimensions, set business up meticulously for the future. The ideal candidate:5+ years’ proven general / divisional management success with international scope; demonstrable revenue acceleration record, accustomed to autonomous UK P+L planning and accountabilityImmediate credibility across broad engineering domains, notably design / assembly of high-value machinery with advanced technical content; ideal sector focus across automotive and/or commercial HVAC segments; ingrained project orientation Consistent record of forming / developing high-performing cross-functional teams with engineering bias and entrepreneurial spirit; evidence of focus on the customer across international footprint, on quality, sustainability and digital transformationDemonstrable value-creation refining processes, articulating / delivering new revenue streams, turning around team morale, enhancing technical solutions, ideally across multiple / international contexts.Proactive, ambitious leader, self-starting, able to work unsupervised and with transparency; outstanding, incisive communicator and mentor at all levels with appetite to be as hands-on as it takesFull command of general management disciplines at detail level, proven gravitas and passion for excellence and for the team; ideally experienced in business turnaround and accustomed to reporting to non-UK group / parent companyDegree-level qualified probably in Engineering, ideally MBA; international frame of reference, accustomed to hands-on accountability and top-notch standards.
