14th October, 2025Job SummaryA client of ours is recruiting two Project Managers to deliver large-scale shipbuilding projects in Durban on fixed-term contracts of 12 months and 18 months. The role suits senior project leaders with a marine or mechanical engineering background and a track record of delivering multidisciplinary maritime construction programmes on time, within budget and to classification and safety standards.About Our ClientOur client is a respected shipbuilding and maritime engineering organisation operating in Africa, known for complex build programmes, rigorous safety, and delivery to international benchmarks within a collaborative, continuous-improvement culture.THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTSkillsIn order to be shortlisted for the vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, but not limited to:Core must-haves10+ years' experience in shipbuilding, marine or mechanical engineering5+ years in a project management roleDiploma or Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experienceProficiency in MS Projects or Primavera and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)Strong stakeholder management, leadership and communicationSolid knowledge of maritime regulations, classification standards and safety protocolsProven delivery of scope, time, cost and quality outcomesNice-to-havesPMP or Prince 2 certificationContract administration exposure and documentation controlContinuous improvement and KPI-driven reporting experienceAny nationality will be considered. However, there is no relocation package available for this role. Shortlisted candidates must be willing and able to relocate to Durban, South Africa at their own cost.Job DescriptionThe role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:Lead and manage end-to-end project delivery across planning, execution, monitoring and closureDevelop and control project plans, schedules, budgets and resource allocationsCoordinate engineering, procurement, production and quality teamsEnsure compliance with maritime regulations, classification and safety protocolsManage clients, subcontractors, suppliers and regulatorsTrack KPIs, chair meetings and present status updates to senior stakeholdersIdentify risks and implement mitigation strategiesDrive continuous improvement and best-practice project managementOversee documentation, record control and contract administrationREMUNERATION PACKAGEA market-related salary based on the level of responsibility for this role is on offer.
