Job DescriptionBusiness OverviewThe Marketplace Business is responsible for operating Rakuten Ichiba, Rakuten's founding e-commerce platform.Established in 1997 along with Rakuten's founding, Rakuten Ichiba embodies Rakuten's mission to empower people and society through innovation. It has created a system where merchants in commerce can easily open shops, transcending geographical limitations and delivering the joy of shopping to customers throughout Japan.Today, it has grown into one of the largest e-commerce sites in Japan and is used by a large number of customers.Department OverviewThe Rakuten Ichiba Marketing Department is responsible for planning and executing marketing strategies aimed at expanding sales for "Rakuten Ichiba", one of Japan's largest online shopping malls with over 100 million registered members.Within the Marketing Department, the Marketing Planning Office plays a crucial role as the department's think tank, responsible for cross-functional strategy development, data analysis, and investment allocation.The mission of this position is to enhance marketing strategies and drive DX (digital transformation) for the medium- to long-term growth of Rakuten Ichiba, through business process improvement utilizing data, AI, and technology.This is a critical role supporting the Marketing Department's productivity by establishing a robust data architecture.This position offers the appealing opportunity to develop marketing skills by working with the Marketing Department's overall data and the analytical tasks that utilize it.After joining, you will learn about the characteristics of market-specific data in areas such as campaign and visit data.PositionWhy We HireFor business expansionPosition DetailsYou will be responsible for the entire process, from preparing data used for business KPIs, customer/campaign analysis, etc., which are necessary for making decisions about marketing activities, to visualizing and streamlining operations.You will be responsible for providing the necessary data in the required format from the vast amounts of data available, including data from group companies such as campaign data, website visits, and the use of group services. This will enable the use of various solutions, including AI.You will work with internal data engineers to advance projects as needed.A key characteristic of this role is the ability to gain various insights and easily feel a sense of contribution to the business, due to the large scale of the business and the abundance of marketing actions and related data.Furthermore, under the mission of "improving productivity," you will be able to plan and promote highly flexible projects, utilizing AI, Python programming, and even the resources of the development department, without being constrained by your area of expertise.Specific Responsibilities Data utilization strategy planning to support marketing initiatives Expanding the range of accessible data domain Designing, developing, and operationalizing data marts Building data platforms to support effective data usage Providing KPI mangement & data analysis support to the marketing department and other business units Assisting in the creation of performance reporting data for management Visualizing and managing data using BI tools such as DOMO and Tableau Communicating data requirements and analysis environment needs to development teams in line with the above initiativesExample Projects Developed BI dashboards leveraging extensive campaign data for performance analysis Conducted behavioral analysis using web analytics BI tools and built behavior tracking databases Built mechanisms for advertising effectiveness measurement using Data Clean Room (DCR), including extraction of 1st-party data Led department-wide AI promotion initiatives, including schema design for data utilization Visualized business KPIs and conducted multifaceted customer analysis using BI tools such as DOMO and Tableau Created company-wide hourly-based sales reporting systems Structured log data into databases for real-time monitoring and diagnosticsWork Environment7 people (4 employees, 3 temporary employees and partner staff)Human resources with the following experience/background are active (for example) Consultant at an IT consulting firm Engineer at a system integrator Sales planning for an electrical component manufacturer E-commerce store operator on an online marketplace New graduate (within 3 years of experience)SkillsMandatory Qualifications: Strong project execution capabilities, including experience in PMO roles and requirements definition for data-driven initiatives One of the following Experience in DWH (Data Warehouse) or data mart-related projects Experience in analyzing data related to marketing activitiesDesired Candidate Profile Individuals with a strong interest in data analysis and data utilization. Individuals who can communicate effectively with other departments and facilitate constructive discussions.
