ApplyDescriptionThe Master Mechanic performs skilled mechanical work to ensure safe, reliable operation of all hotel building systems. This role is responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC, plumbing, boilers, chillers, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, pumps, motors, and general mechanical systems. The position supports guest satisfaction by maintaining optimal building performance and minimizing equipment downtime.ResponsibilitiesInspect, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC units, air handlers, VFDs, exhaust systems, and mechanical controls.Service and repair boilers, hot water systems, chillers, and cooling towers.Perform routine preventive maintenance on motors, pumps, belts, bearings, and mechanical assemblies.Respond promptly to equipment failures and restore systems safely and efficiently.Maintain and repair commercial washers, dryers, ironers, and extractors.Troubleshoot steam valves, gas systems, electrical components, and mechanical issues.Conduct regular preventive maintenance to extend the life cycle and reduce downtime.Maintain and repair dish machines, ovens, steamers, fryers, walk-in coolers, freezers, and other commercial appliances.Ensure equipment meets health, safety, and sanitation standards.Repair faucets, valves, pumps, fixtures, drains, and water distribution lines.Diagnose and repair leaks, clogs, and pressure issues.Assist with hot water and circulating system repairs.Perform basic diagnostics of motors, control circuits, and electrical panels.Replace lighting components, outlets, switches, and minor electrical devices.Follow all hotel safety procedures, including PPE, lockout/tagout, and equipment-specific protocols.Maintain clean and organized mechanical rooms.Report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately to leadership.Complete preventive maintenance tasks and log all repair activities.Update work orders and maintain accurate equipment service records.Assist with parts inventory and equipment condition reports.RequirementsHigh school diploma or technical certificate required; trade school preferred.5–7 years of mechanical or facilities maintenance experience, preferably in hospitality or commercial buildings.Strong knowledge of HVAC, boilers, plumbing, kitchen, and laundry equipment.Ability to read schematics, diagnose failures, and work independently.Strong communication and customer service skills.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Frequent walking, standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, and working in confined or elevated areas.Ability to work in hot, cold, or noisy environments as required.Full-time schedule; may require weekends, holidays, shift work, and on-call rotation based on hotel business needs.
