Job Description

The Ocean Export Coordinator is responsible for managing the end-to-end coordination of international ocean freight shipments. This role ensures timely and accurate documentation, compliance with international regulations, excellent communication with customers and carriers, and effective coordination with internal operational teams. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in freight forwarding operations.BenefitsCompetitive salary up to $65,000Medical, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and holidays401(k) with company matchCareer growth opportunities in a global logistics networkKey ResponsibilitiesCoordinate full-container load (FCL) and less-than-container load (LCL) export shipments from booking to final delivery.Prepare and process export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and AES filings.Book cargo space with ocean carriers and manage schedules, cutoffs, and transit timelines.Communicate daily with customers, carriers, warehouses, and overseas agents to ensure shipment accuracy and timely movement.Track and monitor shipment status; provide updates to clients and resolve delays or exceptions.Ensure compliance with all export regulations (FMC, U.S. Customs, EAR, and other international trade requirements).Create, review, and maintain files in TMS systems; ensure accurate billing and cost allocation.Coordinate drayage, warehousing, and consolidation services when needed.Address customer inquiries and provide proactive service support.Maintain strong working relationships with carriers, vendors, and service providers.Qualifications2+ years of experience in ocean export operations within a freight forwarding environment required.Strong understanding of documentation, carrier booking processes, and export compliance.Proficiency with freight forwarding software/TMS systems (CargoWise, Descartes, Magaya, or similar).Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to multitask in a fast-paced logistics environment.High attention to detail and accuracy.Knowledge of incoterms, AES, vessel schedules, and ocean carrier procedures.
