Materials & Processing Engineering Intern

Job DescriptionResponsibilities:Put Safety first at all times, never compromise on safety for the obtainment of other objectives. Responsible for health and safety of themselves and coworkers. Develop composite processing concepts from proof-of-concept / prototype stage through low-rate initial production (LRIP) stage. Design and implementation of production tools/fixtures to support these composite processing concepts. Research new processing methods, materials, and/or technologies to support customer- or internally-funded R&T projects and programs. Support the design verification and validation process of new products, technologies and methods, including material and component fabrication and physical testing. Support program communication, internally and externally. Provide engineering/technical recommendations for continuous improvement of processing techniques. ShiftDayShift InformationMonday-Friday 40 hoursExperience/Education/SkillsQualifications/Characteristics At least 2 years towards a relevant engineering degree complete (Mechanical, Chemical, Textile, Composites, Aerospace)Proficient in the use of Microsoft software (MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel)Understand and interpret engineering drawings, with a basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Experience with 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software (SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.)Hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing environmentComposite fabrication and/or tooling & fixturing experience a plusBasic understanding of materials scienceKnowledge of tooling, fixturing and composite processing equipment.
