Headquartered in San Francisco, our investors include Benchmark, General Catalyst, Peter Thiel, Adam D'Angelo, Larry Summers, and Jack Dorsey.Position: AI Tutor – Pure Math SpecialistType: Full-timeCompensation: $90,000–$200,000/yearLocation: Palo Alto, CA (in-office, 5 days per week) or RemoteCommitment: 40 hours/weekRole ResponsibilitiesUse proprietary tools to label, annotate, and evaluate mathematical data and problem sets.Contribute to AI training tasks that strengthen reasoning across pure math domains.Collaborate with technical teams to refine annotation tools and workflows.Select and create problems from areas such as abstract algebra, real and complex analysis, topology, or graph theory.Evaluate model-generated solutions and provide detailed feedback for improvement.Interpret evolving task instructions and maintain accuracy, consistency, and professional judgment.QualificationsMust-HaveMaster’s or PhD in Mathematics specializing in pure math, or a medal in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) or similar high-level math competition.Strong ability to read and write both formal and informal English.Skilled in navigating academic databases, research resources, and mathematical literature.Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and make sound judgments with limited context.Passion for technological innovation and the advancement of AI research.PreferredPhD in Mathematics with a focus on pure mathematics.Publications in peer-reviewed mathematical journals.Experience teaching mathematics or mentoring students at the college level.Prior work in AI training, tutoring, or technical writing.Compensation & LegalCompetitive pay ranging from $90,000 to $200,000 annually for U.S.-based professionals, depending on experience and location.Access to medical benefits, subject to your country of residence.Application Process (Takes 20–30 mins to complete)Submit your resume.Complete a 20-minute introductory interview.Selected candidates will move on to a focused mathematics data evaluation exercise.Finalists will participate in a team discussion and review of their expertise.The full process typically concludes within one week.Resources & SupportFor details about the interview process and platform information, please check: https://talent.docs.mercor.com/welcome/welcomeFor any help or support, reach out to: support@mercor.comPS: Our team reviews applications daily.
