We are seeking highly organized, proactive, compassionate individuals to join our team as a Medical Assistant to support our members and our clinical team in Berwick, Pa. As a Medical Assistant you will play a pivotal role in CARING for our members and building relationships while supporting providers in a family practice environment. WHAT WE OFFER:Medical, Dental, Vision20 days paid vacation, 10 paid holidays.401K retirement savings planCompetitive compensation packagePaid trainingOpportunities for career growth and developmentContribution to a positive impact and CARE in our communityKEY RESPONSIBLITIES:Clinical Duties (may include, but not limited to):Taking medical historiesExplaining treatment procedures to patientsPreparing patients for examinationsAssisting the physician during examinationsCollecting and preparing laboratory specimensPerforming basic laboratory testsInstructing patients about medication and special dietsPreparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant)Transmitting prescription refills as directedPhlebotomyTaking electrocardiogramsWound care and changing dressings.Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to):Using computer applicationsAnswering telephonesWelcoming patientsUpdating and filing patient medical recordsCoding and filling out insurance forms.Scheduling appointmentsArranging for hospital admissions and laboratory servicesHandling correspondence, billing, and bookkeepingEXPECTATIONS:Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewalAct 33 with renewalAct 34 with renewalAct 73 FBI Clearance with renewalEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or equivalent is required at minimum. Graduation from an accredited medical assistant school or program is preferred. Medical Assistant certification is a plus but not required.
