Sinai Health is looking for a Medical Secretary to support our Ambulatory Medicine Clinics at our Mount Sinai Hospital Campus. In this role, the medical secretary will be expected to exercise sound judgment and independence while managing the day-to-day related administrative activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to quality customer service, applying excellent problem solving and communication skills to ensure the success of the department.In This Role You WillGreet patients and visitors in a friendly, courteous and respectful mannerFunction in the front office clinical role providing timely, friendly, empathetic and informative service to patients and visitorsEnter all patients’ demographics and booking of appointments for patients for various physicians, sending out faxed or emailed appointment information to patients and referring physiciansAnswer phone calls, voicemails and email messages and responding to patients in a timely mannerSchedule patient appointments, tests and proceduresCerner registration for all patient visitsPrepare and maintain patient charts, including filing of all results and correspondences receivedValidate OHIP health cards and MSH cardForward information to other physicians respecting patient confidentiality and privacy including retrieval of release of information documents as necessaryMaintain an up-to-date clinical calendar on appointment schedulerWork collaboratively with other administrative support staffPerform other duties consistent with the job classification as requiredJob RequirementsMandatory Successful completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline from an accredited educational institution1 year of experience in related workApplicants with proven equivalent and related training and experience may also be considered PreferredSecretarial program certificate Skills and KnowledgeExcellent telephone, interpersonal and customer service skillsExcellent verbal/written communication skillsGood organizational and time management skillsAbility to use good judgment in assessing difficult situationsStrong experience working in a health care environmentWorking independently, as a team player in liaison with patient and doctor is crucial in the structure of this position.
