This role involves proactively monitoring network traffic and security events, identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities, and implementing advanced security controls across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.The analyst will manage and optimize network security solutions, support incident detection and response activities, and ensure compliance with internal security policies and regulatory standards such as PCI DSS and provincial Ministry of Health (MOH) requirements. The role also collaborates with infrastructure, application, and compliance teams to strengthen the organization’s overall security posture through continuous improvement, automation, and adoption of zero-trust principles.Principal Responsibilities: Monitor network and security systems, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, EDR/XDR and proxy solutions, to detect and respond to anomalies or threats in real time.Conduct regular vulnerability scans, risk assessments and coordinate remediation with IT and application teams.Implement, maintain and enforce security configurations and policies across routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.Manage and optimize network segmentation, secure remote access, and zero-trust access controls.Support integration and monitoring of security tools such as SIEM, SOAR, and endpoint protection platforms.Triage, investigate, and document security incidents, coordinating with outsourced SOC, internal and external stakeholders as needed.Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Support forensic data collection and analysis when investigating network-related breachesSupport compliance activities including PCI DSS, MOH conformance, and internal/external auditsMaintain documentation of network security controls, incident reports, and change management recordsParticipate in the development and enforcement of IT security policies, standards, and proceduresVulnerability management, including monitoring vendors for security related patches, maintaining an internal inventory of software versions, and coordinating implementation of patches.Research and evaluate emerging security threats, technologies, and best practices.Recommend enhancements to improve visibility, automation, and resilience in the network security environment.Collaborate with system administrators, cloud engineers, and application teams to embed security by design.Assist in creating and conducting employee training programs to promote cybersecurity awareness and best practices.Work in a cooperative manner with the IT OrganizationPerform other duties as assigned to support Rexall Pharmacy Group Ltd. Knowledge, skills and experience:Minimum 5 years of working experience in Cybersecurity or related fields combined with bachelor’s degree in computer science or network security.Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, VPNs, and network protocols.Hands-on experience with firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet), IDS/IPS, web proxies, NAC, and cloud security controls (AWS, Azure).Experience with SIEM/SOAR platforms (e.g., Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Crowdstrike) and vulnerability scanners, and penetration testing toolsFamiliarity with vulnerability management, threat intelligence, and incident response tools.Understanding of Zero Trust Network Architecture (ZTNA) and SASE frameworks.Experience with cloud security and securing virtualized environments.Knowledge of network segmentation, encryption technologies, and identity-based access controls.Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, and PCI DSS.Understanding of data protection regulations and healthcare security requirements (e.g., PIPEDA, PHIPA, etc.).Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for automating security tasks.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess and address security vulnerabilities effectively.Hands on experience of Microsoft SCCM, Active Directory Group Policy and other system configuration compliance solutions for system security hardening. Systems administration experience, in UNIX, Networks and Windows is considered a strong asset. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving security issues.Previous experience in incident response and handling security breaches.Strong interpersonal skills; highly motivated and directed.Strong customer service orientation.Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
