Salford Pride are looking for a volunteer Operations Assistant the role will require the candidate to be able to commit 6-8 hours a week to the charity and attend one in-person and one online meeting a month.Role Overview:The Operations Assistant will play a vital role in keeping our internal operations efficient, inclusive, and people-focused. The role will oversee volunteer recruitment and engagement, manage onboarding processes, support charity compliance and event administration, and lead on internal communication to ensure that our team and volunteers are informed and connected.Responsibilities of the Operations Assistant are as follows:Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support across the charity.Create and manage new volunteer accounts (e.g., email, CRM, or internal systems).Maintain up-to-date digital and paper filing systems.Support compliance and safeguarding documentation, ensuring all policies and records are current.Assist in the planning and delivery of events, ensuring paperwork, permissions, and risk assessments are completed.Lead on volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and induction sessions.Build and maintain positive, ongoing relationships with volunteers to strengthen engagement and retention.Coordinate volunteer communications, recognition, and feedback opportunities.Ensure all volunteer compliance requirements are met (e.g., DBS checks and training).Maintain accurate volunteer records and scheduling systems.Lead on internal communication to ensure trustees, and volunteers are informed and connected.Support the development of clear and inclusive communication systems and practices.Help embed inclusion and accessibility in all aspects of the organisation’s work.Ensure that our projects and initiatives are representative of, and beneficial to, the diverse LGBTQ+ communities we serve.Manage and monitor the charity’s general inbox, responding to enquiries or forwarding them to the right person.Support with internal updates, newsletters, and coordination across teams.Contribute to improving operational systems and organisational effectiveness.Essential:Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.Experience coordinating volunteers or providing operational/administrative support.Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of people.Understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion, with a commitment to creating inclusive and accessible environments.Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise, and work independently.Comfortable handling sensitive and confidential information.Passion for supporting LGBTQ+ communities.Desirable:Experience working in a small charity or community organisation.Understanding of compliance and data protection (e.g., GDPR, safeguarding).Knowledge of volunteer management systems or CRMs.Experience supporting or coordinating community events.
