Job Description:Sky Castle Studios is developing a new web-based, turn-based game and seeking a Particle Effects Technical Artist to help shape its visual magic. You’ll be responsible for creating real-time particle systems and visual effects that bring the world to life — from subtle UI flourishes and ambient details to impactful ability visuals and environmental effects. You’ll work closely with engineers, 3D artists, and the art director to design and implement performant, stylized effects that look great in-browser and harmonize with our art direction.Responsibilities:Design, author, and optimize real-time particle effects in Unity’s VFX Graph or ShurikenCreate stylized effects for abilities, attacks, environments, and interfaceImplement effects directly in Unity, then exporting them and collaborating with engineers for integration into our web engineWork with 3D, design, and concept artists to ensure effects match tone, color, and readability goalsPrototype and tune timing and behavior of effects to match gameplay feel and player feedbackOptimize effects for browser-based performance while maintaining visual qualityHelp define the visual language of energy, impact, and motion across the project. Requirements:4+ years experience creating real-time visual effects for gamesExpert knowledge of Unity’s particle systems (Shuriken, VFX Graph, Shader Graph)Strong grasp of timing, anticipation, and motion for gameplay feedbackComfortable using Autodesk Maya for mesh prep, simple animation, or effect geometrySkilled in texture authoring, sprite sheet creation, and material setup for VFXExperience profiling and optimizing particle systems for performanceStrong eye for color, shape, and composition in motionStrong communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-discipline.
