Payroll & Benefits AnalystThe Payroll & Benefits Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Firm’s payroll and benefits programs. This role ensures timely and accurate processing of payroll, benefit enrollments, deductions, and compliance reporting. The position also manages benefit carrier invoices and supports new hire onboarding and employee offboarding.The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical acumen, attention to detail, and a commitment to optimizing service delivery through standard operating procedures and collaborative relationships across the Firm.Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, adaptable, organized, and process-driven, with at least five years of payroll and benefits experience.Core Values of SuccessIndividuals who thrive at FMG share these attributes:Helpful, congenial, personable, and positiveUnpretentious, approachable, respectful, and team-orientedAccountable and takes ownership of outcomesOrganized, timely, discreet, and responsive (within 24 hours)Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and maintain accurate employee records in payroll and benefits systems.Ensure timely enrollment, changes, and terminations for all benefit plans.Apply proper tax treatment to benefit elections and payroll deductions.Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, including those in AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MA, NJ, NM, NY, NV, OH, OR, PA, RI, TN, TX, and WA.Partner with brokers and carriers to resolve employee benefit issues.Oversee year-end payroll and benefits compliance reporting.Stay current on legal, regulatory, and governmental requirements impacting payroll and benefits.Communicate effectively and confidently with employees at all levels.Administer COBRA notifications and other required benefit notices.Manage 401(k) plan administration, including contributions, distributions, and compliance audits.Prepare and file required forms such as W-2, 1095, and 5500.Interpret and process wage garnishments, child support orders, and similar deductions.Audit and reconcile timekeeping data and ensure accurate semi-monthly payroll processing.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsMinimum of 3-5 years’ experience with in-house payroll and benefits administration.Multistate payroll and benefits experience required.Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll laws (e.g., FMLA, FLSA) and IRS regulations.Experience with payroll and carrier benefit systems; knowledge of UKG (UltiPro) preferred.Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.Familiarity with 401(k), Safe Harbor, and Profit-Sharing regulations.Strong analytical and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Professional, courteous demeanor under pressure.Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.Must pass background and credit checks.EducationBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.Professional certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.What We OfferCompetitive compensationComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverageHSA and FSA options for employees and dependentsWork-life balance and generous PTO401(k) with 3% employer Safe Harbor contributionFirm-paid life insurance and long-term disabilityEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Year-end bonuses and referral programsEEO StatementFreeman Mathis & Gary, LLP (FMG) is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees by maintaining a workplace free of discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other protected status as provided by law.
