Policy Planner to help shape environment policy and planning outcomes Hybrid role with flexible working based in Auckland Central Salary will be $88,528 to $104,150 + KiwiSaver contributionHe angitūtanga: The opportunityThe Planning and Resource Consents department shapes policy and planning outcomes across Auckland’s urban, rural, and coastal environments. With the governments signalled RMA reforms, the gazetting of twenty-one new and amended national directions and the forthcoming review of the Auckland Unitary Plan there are both significant challenges and opportunities for these environment shaping responsibilities of policy planning in Auckland. To help meet this Auckland Council has created a new Policy Planner position available within the Auckland wide unit’s Planning Team.As a Policy Planner, you will: Provide high-quality planning advice to elected members, Mana Whenua, communities, and other internal and external stakeholders Support the Auckland wide units design and co-ordination of the forthcoming review of the Auckland Unitary Plan Evaluate and monitor the Auckland Unitary Plan as part of full policy cycle planning. Work within and lead project teams across other policy planning units on implementing national direction, submitting on legislation, preparing council-initiated plan changes, processing private plan changes and notices of requirement. For a copy of the position description please click hereHe kōrero mōu: About youThis role will require a strong focus on continuous improvement and the ability to deal with complex planning issues. With a passion for policy, statutory and spatial planning we are looking for a policy planner who has: A degree qualification or higher and at least 2-3 years’ experience in planning and resource management A sound understanding of the Resource Management Act Statutory planning background and ideally familiarity with the Auckland Unitary Plan. Strong relationship building skills, and customer service.
