Saint Petersburg, FL, United StatesJob Identification 41198 Job Category Research Posting Date 09/12/2025, 06:07 PM Apply Before 10/31/2025, 04:00 AM Degree Level Doctorate Degree Locations 140 7th Avenue South, Saint Petersburg, FL, 33701, US Essential Personnel No Job DescriptionDr. Mya Breitbart at the University of South Florida College of Marine Science invites applications to fill a Postdoctoral Researcher position working on a project investigating the presence of iron in marine bacteriophage (phage).Nature Of WorkThe successful applicant will be expected to isolate, grow, enumerate, and purify phage that infect the marine bacterium Vibrio natriegens under trace metal clean conditions. Through close collaboration with Dr. Kristen Buck’s laboratory at Oregon State University, this project will test the hypothesis that marine phage incorporate iron into their structures and represent a significant form of organic dissolved iron in the oceans.This position is available immediately but there is flexibility in start date. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. An annual salary of $65,000 plus benefits is budgeted. Initial appointment will be for one year, with re-appointment anticipated for a total of three years.Please submit a cover letter and CV with your application.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution and appropriate experience and training within a selected area of specialization.
