Job Description

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research? Our lab studies cellular and molecular mechanisms of cell fate decisions in the immune system with a focus on two areas: 1) regulation of these decisions in humoral immune responses (Rauschmeier et al, J Exp Med, 2022; Glaros et al, Immunity, 2021) and 2) specificity, development and function of innate-like lymphocytes, in particular – gamma delta T cells (You et al, Nat Immunol, 2024; Dunst et al, JLB, 2020; Kreslavsky et al, Nat Immunol, 2017).Full list of our publications can be found here: https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=38BAIBgAAAAJ&hl=enSome examples of the recent projects are discussed in a Global Immunotalks seminar https://youtu.be/mFp7SNWWcIc?si=N6IyS8ok8G-gbKv5 and ImmuneZoom seminar https://youtu.be/uWstH67i6Bg?si=R76qbI2G4YYERaK-DivisionOur lab is part of the Division of Immunology and Respiratory Medicine within the Department of Medicine, Solna. We are based in the Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM) building on the Karolinska Solna campus, a hub for cutting-edge immunology research. CMM boasts one of the highest concentrations of immunology labs in Sweden, fostering a vibrant research environment. We actively collaborate with numerous immunology labs across multiple departments on both Karolinska campuses and participate in joint seminars.DutiesWe are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong desire to study basic principles of immune system function. The postdoctoral researcher will lead an exciting project in lymphocyte biology. The research program can be shaped to take into account the interests of the successful candidate.Entry RequirementsPassion for science and desire to work hard for its progress are the main requirements. The candidates applying for this project must have a PhD degree in biomedicine, immunology, cell biology or a related discipline. Knowledge of immunology and experience with some of the relevant experimental approaches (e.g. flow cytometry, mouse work, molecular biology techniques, scRNA-seq and bioinformatical analysis of scRNA-seq datasets) are beneficial. Applicants must have good English skills, good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively and work productively in a team.Postdoctoral scholarships may be established for foreign researchers who pursue their merit in Sweden. A foreign researcher is a person living in another country who comes to Sweden with the intention of only staying in Sweden for all or part of their postdoctoral education at KI. Persons who are resident in Sweden and/or have carried out all or part of their academic education at KI or some other educational institution in Sweden cannot be considered for scholarships. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four-year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent. To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate, or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate.
