Join QBuild for an exciting career opportunity as a as a Principal Workplace Health and Safety Advisor, where you'll provide high-level service and advice on WH&S activities and environmental matters across the building, construction, and maintenance within QBuild.QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.About The RoleYou will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing workplace health and safety (WHS) advice, services, and assistance to the department, including a diverse range of WHS activities and technical matters relating to the building, construction and maintenance industry.Duties And Skills InvolvedManaging the development and delivery of WHS training and information sessions for the region, including liaising with external providers when needed and supervising administration of maintenance of the regional WHS training register. Providing WHS&E advice, support and guidance to department operational, supervisory and management staff regarding QBuild Safety Management System (SMS) processes and requirements, legislative compliance and new technologies. Managing and support the team to conduct site WHS&E audits and inspections to ensure work compliance, including for both QBuild and contractor delivered work. Leading the investigation of incident and hazard investigations, producing reporting as required, as well as educate QBuild staff with reporting incidents. Managing the offices and depot to ensure emergency planning and response activities are completed. Leading the development and implementation of SMSs, risk assessments, WHS management plans and any other WHS management system processes as needed by the region. Providing senior management with formal reports on health and safety KPI's and support the regional management team in the management of the rehabilitation of staff. Ensuring formal WHS&E reporting to the region and business is completed as required. Proactively managing the work performance and personal conduct of the region's WHS team, including providing coaching and mentoring to enhance capability. Managing WHS&E and provide WHS&E support relevant to program managers in the delivery of individual works programs. Leading, developing and educating staff in new technologies both in the field of WHS&E (including the management of asbestos and lead) through formal training and regular communication. Reviewing Environmental and Safety Management System procedures and make recommendations for improvement. Additional Requirements (desirable)Demonstrated experience providing advice in WHS legislative compliance requirements, including relevant legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards/International Standards. Demonstrated strong knowledge of industry, or similar industry, including the ability to identify building construction and maintenances hazards and risks and the related controls and strategies for elimination. Demonstrated experience in the effective development and delivery of programs and improvement initiatives across QBuild. Demonstrated experience in effectively managing staff in a complex work environment. How do I apply?
