Our recycling stream ensures that all the ferrous and non-ferrous metals that enter our yards will create something new again!Job SummaryWe are growing fast and looking for a highly motivated Process Engineer with a strong lean manufacturing background. The Process Engineer will develop, implement, and optimize production processes. He/she will have a large playfield to make great things happen. You will have the freedom to define processes, create material flow or pull systems, and lead continuous improvement projects. This individual will lead operational projects including the development of metrics to drive the right behavior, leadership coaching and training on new tool/process usage, data analysis and propose new business solutions. He/she must be able to create momentum and excitement to implement changes on the floor, have entrepreneurial thinking, be a self-starter and should be able to identify areas for improvement and implement them in a timely fashion.Position Responsibilities:Review current state process, identify bottlenecks, and implement changes to create flow.Study and identify resource needs, ergonomic solutions, tooling, and fixtures.Work closely with cross-functional teams to provide relevant input to deploy new processes.Analyze and optimize production processes to ensure safety, quality, maximize yield, and improve capacity in cost-effective means.Work with production staff to identify opportunities for design changes for existing processes that would enable better manufacturability and cost reduction.Utilize Lean methodologies to improve process layouts, material flow, and reduce waste.Monitor and audit manufacturing processes to ensure product specifications and standards are achieved.Create and maintain manufacturing instructions, method sheets or standard work, routings for associated processes.Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop processes, tooling, assembly fixtures and procedures.Implement Lean manufacturing principles. Reduce waste, create material flow, 5S initiatives, lead continuous improvement projects, etc.Disposition of non-conforming material and elevate preventive action initiatives internally and with suppliers.Qualifications:B.Sc. in Mechanical, Manufacturing; or equivalent or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability.Formal LEAN Manufacturing training or certification is an asset.Minimum 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.Demonstrated working experience with LEAN manufacturing methodologies.Excellent critical thinking skills, and tact.Project management skills and ability to influence changes.Persuasive, motivational, and persistent.Ability to work with direct labor to understand their challenges and work on developing optimal solutions using a structured approach.Good understanding of process design, process validation, assembly methods, design reviews and cost reduction methodologies.Must be able to break down complex issues into workable pieces.Capable of identifying critical process parameters and applying sensible control to eliminate or reduce risks.Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical and electrical drawings.Strong use of common work tools (word, excel, access, etc).A few super cool things about us / what we offer:A competitive salary and performance bonus.A great team to learn from and unlock growth and career opportunities.An inclusive, friendly and multi-cultural environment.Progressive and approachable leadership team focused on winning and continuous improvement.Brand-new state of the art recycling facility and offices in Vaughan (240,000 square feet).At CMI we are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace, free of bias and discrimination, where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.
