About The TeamThe Mathspace Design team crafts delightful experiences for thousands of Maths students worldwide. We are a friendly, collaborative bunch, guided by design thinking and a lean product mindset.Combining aesthetics, empathy, data, and ui design, we solve fundamental problems that help thousands of students around the world to learn and love mathematics more everyday.About The RoleWe're looking for a Product Designer (Creative) someone with strong design craft, a love of visual storytelling, and a modern digital sensibility.You might come from UX/UI, digital design, visual communications, advertising, or even animation/illustration. What matters most is your taste, creativity, curiosity, and ability to make thoughtful, polished digital experiences.In this role, you'll design experiences for students and teachers, helping shape everything from learning flows and gamification, to teacher reports, to design system improvements across the Mathspace platform.You'll work closely with the Head of Design who will mentor you, while also expecting you to show initiative and independence once a task is defined.This is a chance to help shape the future of learning creating experiences that are clear, engaging, playful, and motivating for young people and educators.What You'll Work OnProduct & UI DesignDesign responsive UI screens and components in Figma aligned with our design systemContribute to the uplift of our design system, including patterns, interactions, styles, and documentationWork with UX to create and test prototypes with teachers and studentsCollaborate with product managers and developers to refine design details and deliver production-ready filesCreative Experience & GamificationSupport the design of gamified experiences (e.g. shop, rewards, challenges, quests)Create visual concepts for new features that feel appealing and age-appropriateContribute to storytelling moments that motivate students and delight teachersCraft & Visual DesignCreate polished visual assets, icons, layouts, and supporting illustrationsUse Adobe Creative Suite and/or Affinity when Figma alone won't cut itEnsure pixel-perfect quality with strong attention to detailInnovation & AIUse AI tools in your workflow (ideation, image generation, copy exploration, or prototyping)Explore new creative or product possibilities with AIBring a future-focused mindset to how Mathspace might evolve across younger age groupsRequirementsWhat We're Looking ForMust-HavesA Higher Ed Certificate in Design (UI, Graphic, Multimedia or related field)A strong eye for detail and modern digital aestheticsGood taste, you know what great design looks like and what's trendingExperience designing for the web or mobile interfaces using FigmaInterest in designing for young people and also teacher-facing toolsA willingness to learn, experiment, and grow your skillsComfort using AI as a creative/design toolAbility to take a defined task and move forward independently with support nearbyA portfolio showcasing your visual craft (UI work, digital design, visual storytelling, or concepting)Bonus pointsMotion graphics and/or Illustration skillsExperience with RiveUse of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects) or equivalentExperience with design systemsExperience in EdTech, gamification, or youth brandsWho You AreYou are:A creative thinker with empathyA designer with great taste and a curiosity for how things workSomeone who enjoys crafting polished UI as much as exploring new ideasA natural experimenter who learns fastExcited by the idea of designing for students and teachersPassionate about making learning experiences feel inspiring, playful, and modernIf you love the intersection of creativity, digital product, and meaningful impact, this role is for you.What To SubmitResumePortfolioCover letter / Video letter BenefitsBenefitsThe opportunity to use technology and design to transform Mathematics educationGreat team - no politics, no egosFully flexible remote work policyDedicated time to learningCompany supplied MacBook ProWe partner with pledge1percent.org to donate 1% of time, product and profit to help nonprofits in our community.
