Job Title: Program CoordinatorHours: 30 hours per week Compensation: $30/hour, cost-shared benefits, 2 weeks paid vacationDescription:The Alberta Small Brewers Association (ASBA) is a small organization. The team working on behalf of small liquor manufacturers in Alberta is responsible for advocacy, education, providing resources, networking, community building, awareness, and so much more. This industry is built by passionate individuals and ASBA strives to mirror their enthusiasm through our efforts. The ASBA is a non-profit organization. We rely on revenue generating programming and government grants to support our work. Currently, we represent about 70 per cent of Alberta’s small manufacturers, including beer, spirits, refreshment beverages, cider and other products. We work closely with breweries with the aim to meet their needs from when they begin planning their business through their growth. Building relationships with the individuals in the ASBA membership is essential to being successful as an organization, and as an employee. A passion equal to the members is vital to accomplishing the tasks at hand.This position can be located anywhere in the province. Travel to Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer or other locations will be necessary at various times. This position will be based remotely. While there is flexibility in work hours and locations, there will be an expectation of availability and working hours sometime between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday, as well as some evenings and weekends, especially during events. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for organizing programming year-round. ASBA hosts several major events:Golf Tournament - JuneCombine to Craft - JulyUnity Brew Day - August/SeptemberAlberta Beer Awards Judging - SeptemberAlberta Craft Brewing Convention and Alberta Beer Awards Gala - OctoberProgramming during the rest of the year include:In-person and online education/speaker series (roughly 8 per year)In-person Townhalls (February/March)Networking EventsBrewery sales eventsAlberta Ale TrailAdditional events as possibleThis role has the support of the member experience committee, as well at the Board of Directors, Executive Director and Office Coordinator. The planning, logistics, coordination, marketing, and other details of the events are the responsibility of the Program Coordinator. Because ASBA is a small organization, we like to explore creativity and encourage new ideas. Bringing solutions to the table and thinking ahead are valued attributes for this role. Responsibilities and Duties:The Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring events and programming incorporate the interests and needs of the ASBA membership and the Association. This is where it is important to ensure relationships with ASBA members are fostered. This role requires a high level of organizational skills and the ability to plan ahead. As many of our biggest events happen over just a few months, it is essential to do the work that can be done well in advance and to create systems, checklists and timelines to achieve the goals of the role. Some tasks include, but are not limited to:Timeline DevelopmentMarketing and Comms planningPromotion of eventsSetting up RSVP sites (Wild Apricot or Squarespace)Updating websites (Wild Apricot or Squarespace)Creating design materials (Canva)Posting on social mediaCreating communications for weekly emailsAssigning tasks to member experience committee, the Board, or ASBA staff membersCreating and adhering to budgetsSecuring sponsors for programming and the ASBADeveloping databases for speakers, exhibitors, etc.Building relationships with exhibitors, associate members and other stakeholdersCreating a calendar of events, including speakers and topicsConsistent communication with the Executive DirectorThis list is not exhaustive, but includes many of the major duties and responsibilities of the Program Coordinator.Qualifications and Skills:Proactive planning and organizational skillsCreative and innovative thinkingProblem solvingSelf-starter with an ability to multitask Public speakingThorough communication with team members, board of directors and committee membersComfort with, or learning, Microsoft Office, Wild Apricot (CRM), Squarespace, Canva, and Google WorkspaceComfortable with networking and building relationshipsExperience in event planning strongly preferredAbility to work remotely, must be dependable to complete your tasks in timelines required, understand that you will often work independentlyPerks and Benefits:2 weeks paid vacationCost-shared employee benefits (health, dental, eye)Free beer, refreshment beverages, etc, often includedFlexible hours and working arrangementsSend Resume and Cover Letter to ExecDirector@AlbertaBrewers.ca
