On behalf of our client we are hiring a Programme Manger to join them on a 6 month contract joining on 1st December.The Programme Manager will be assigned to the Targeted Programmes portfolio within the Unit which supports research aimed at addressing strategic priorities of the Irish Health and Social Care system and facilitates evidence informed policy and practice, through both targeted initiatives and open competitive funding schemes.During the assignment, the individual will be responsible for the following key actions / activities:Applied Partnership Award (APA) Scheme – managing a dedicated round of the APA scheme supporting applications in Women’s Health (including but not limited to: overseeing the development of call related documentation, project timelines, call launch, managing queries and applications, ensuring successful and on-time delivery of the review process)Manage post-award monitoring of active Applied Partnership awardsAttend meetings of the National Mental Health Research Strategy Implementation and Oversight Group, along with the DirectorAdvance a mapping of public health expenditure in mental health research to guide deliberations of the new Mental Health Research Strategy Implementation and Oversight GroupManage post award activities for mental health research portfolio and for the targeted programmes sub-team more broadly, as requiredMonitor expenditure of dedicated Sharing the Vision funding to support a broad portfolio of projects in mental healthAttend meetings of the International Alliance of Mental Health Research Funders, and report back on relevant developmentsSupport implementation of Targeted Programmes policies and processes.Essential knowledge and experience Formal requirements include: A PhD or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline/topic At least five years’ relevant professional experience in academic, governmental, commercial or not-for-profit settings Excellent planning, organisational and project management skills with proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects Strong knowledge and understanding of the national and international research funding environmentProven ability to articulate, synthesise and distil complex information and concepts and provide recommendations for actionResearch experience is essential, but it is important to note that this is an administrative role and not a research role.Desirable requirements include:Prior experience in research funding, including design and delivery of research funding schemesHigh degree of computer literacy, including knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and experience of databases.A Programme Manager in the HRB will interact closely with the academic and healthcare research community and should therefore have a strong interest in and understanding of these environments.
