Job DetailsProgramme DirectorRef: LS46920A specialist company in London arranging international language schooling and homestays for students from Japan coming to Europe, is looking for an Academic Programmes Director to join their team.In this role, you will be responsible for the full end-to-end coordination of our Japanese student group programmes, from liaising with schools in Japan and managing local group coordinators in the UK, to designing tailored schedules and ensuring a seamless on-the-ground experience for students.The ideal candidate should have strong leadership, communication, strategic thinking skills, and be flexible and proactive.TYPE: Permanent, full-timeWORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday (5 days a week during probation; 3 days in office after)SALARY: £30k, depending on experienceSTART: ASAPLOCATION: Romford, EssexAcademic Programmes Manager Main ResponsibilitiesPlan and manage all aspects of our Japanese student programmes, from initial brief to deliveryLiaise daily with our partner offices in Japan to finalise programme content and respond to changing needsOversee a remote network of Group Coordinators across the UKEnsure timely and accurate submission of host family details, delegating to support staff when neededLead regular programme operations meetings and manage internal milestones and deadlinesGreet visiting school groups and senior staff when requiredCollaborate with our Academic Planning Manager to align intercultural learning activities with English language goalsTrain and support new staff members as part of your team leadership responsibilitiesProvide regular reports and updates to the General ManagerAcademic Programmes Manager Ideal CandidateStrong team management and leadership skillsExcellent communication - both written and face-to-faceAbility to think strategically while staying on top of detailsFlexible, proactive, and comfortable with fast-changing plansMature, professional, and confident dealing with senior stakeholdersMust be UK-based, domestically settled, and hold a clean UK driving licenceBackground in education, cultural exchange, or EFL (English as a Foreign Language)Experience working with Japanese clients or knowledge of Japanese culture/languageFamiliarity with the UK school system and confidence in liaising with educational institutionsSkilled in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint); database knowledge (e.g. MS Access) a plusExcellent problem-solving abilities and calm under pressureAbility to create and deliver presentations to diverse audiencesExperience as a travel consultant / at a travel agency is considered All applicants for the Academic Programmes Manager must have the right to work in the country as the Company is not able to offer visa support.We regret that we cannot accept applications from Working holiday visa, Graduate or Student visa holders.If your application is successful, you will be contacted within two business days.
