Job Description

Role will be covered by a suitable person as nominated by Management.Purpose of JobTo manage projects on behalf of the General Manager daily with tasks as instructed Principle DutiesProduce ITP submit & control through class approval system,Conduct inspections of vessel build & shipyard operations, and equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.Review and verify materials, processes, and workmanship against project specifications and quality control plans.Identify, document, and report non-conformances, defects, and deviations, recommending corrective actions.Perform audits on safety procedures, environmental compliance, and overall quality assurance.Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies (flag & class societies) to ensure quality and compliance are maintained.Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and compliance reports.Assist in the development and improvement of quality control procedures and best practices.Ensure all work aligns with Class societies, and other relevant maritime regulatory requirements.Provide training and guidance to employees on quality standards and best practicesWorking with design teams & subcontractors to ensure high quality engineering solutions are delivered on time to budget. Investigate new design concepts by researching components or systems and evaluating applications.Collaborating with cross functional teams to define project scope objectives and specifications. Specify equipment in accordance with contractual and engineering requirements.PMG Procurement to obtain catalogues, suppliers product specifications, isometrics, drawings of proposed equipment to issue to contracted detailed designers. Support procurement with the appropriate information to allow equipment to be added to the Bill of Materials. Support design Manager & internal staff & subcontractors / OEM specialists reviewing proposed layouts of equipment & service runs to avoid any collisions & best space utilisation within vessels to meet class regulations. Monitor the installation of First fixings (hot work) for Electrical Cable Tray, Navigational bracketry, Pipe system supports, Mechanical Equipment foundations & Hydraulics Penetrations Glands, Coordinate with production, subcontractors & detailed designers for amendments with drawings to incorporate changes and corrections to final design. Reviewing & issuing of fit for purpose work drawings to class.Gathering information, drawings & manuals for final class deliverable approvals.Issuing of final documentation pack to vessel prior to trials & flag state inspection. Trials provide technical documentation to trades carrying out trials & handover. Technical Background in Shipbuilding with proven experience / understanding of the following:Types of consumables, PPE, & materials certification requirements:·        Welding, Gas, Grinding / Cutting, Oxy-Acetylene Cutting Equipment, Masks, Gloves, Shields, Overalls, Glasses, Safety Helmets, PPE Rescue Equipment, Pipe Fittings, Diesel Services, Gas Monitoring, NDT, Abrasives, Acids, Adhesives and Sealants, Detergent / Disinfectant, Glass, Jointing / Gaskets, Loctite, Oil / Chemical, Fasteners, Marine Timber, Spill kit, Fire Blankets, Health & Safety Signage, Fire Extinguishers, Grease, Paste, Hardener & Resins (Glass Reinforced Plastic), Lubricants, Metals, Insulation, Belzona, Cabling, Degreaser, Anti Spatter, brushes rollers, Types of equipment certification requirements:Types of equipment certification requirements:Structural drawings from kit supplied parts to fabrication installation plans, jigs, keel laying, frame / bulkhead positioning, shell & deck plating installation, superstructure installation, rudder fabrication, rope guards, thruster tunnel, foundations & seatings for equipment, hot work first fixings, mast fabrication & installation.ovements of panel line, sub structures, block erection, block join up & super structure. Pre-launch information.  Piping systems including flows ,pumps, valves for Black, Grey, Fuel, Ballast & Potable water, scuppers, sea chests, outlets/inlets vents, breathers, over boards, filling & discharges, swimming pool filtration system. Mechanical systems Propulsion equipment, Engines, Gearboxes, Shafts, Propellers, Rudders, Generators, Bow Thrusters, Windlass & Capstans.Electrical Installation And Lighting - Main/emergency switchboard, Local distribution panels, Cables and wiring, motors, distribution and switchboards, shore connection, Interior lighting, Technical lighting, Deck lighting, Miscellaneous lighting, Breakers, Batteries & Chargers.Navigational systems Communication systems, Ship horn, Ship’s bell, CCTV-system, Passenger information system, Audio & video equipment. Distress flares pyrotechnics, Flags & shapes, VHF and MF/HF radios, Inmarsat satellite system EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio BeaconHVAC systems, Boilers, Exhausts, Compressors, Fixed Firefighting & detection systems, Lifesaving equipment positioning, Entertainment system. Miscellaneous, ladders, gangways, Insulation, Watertight integrity, fairleads, bollards, handrails, cleats, fendering system.oinery / Outfitting Cabin / bar, wheelhouse, decks & Compartment layouts flooring, equipment, seatings, stowage arrangements, internal & external furniture. Galley layout all equipment & services including refrigeration dumbwaiter & storage arrangements. Qualifications for the position of Quality Inspector:·        Previous experience in quality assurance, shipbuilding, or maritime inspections.·        Strong knowledge of maritime industry standards, including Class societies and OSHA regulations.·        Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.·        Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.·        Strong communication and report-writing abilities.·        Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.·        Relevant certifications (such as NDT, AWS, or ASQ) are a plus.·        Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a maritime, shipyard, or quality assurance role·        Capability of using Primary software Rhino, AutoCAD or similar 2D / 3D experience. ·        Working knowledge of Quality Standard ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001. ·        Be conversant with all legislation pertaining to the scope of the companies work activities.  ·        Effective communication skills, written and verbal. ·        Computer literate.
