TEMP ROLE: MAT LEAVE COVERAGE FROM JULY TO NOVEMBERPosition OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer & Merchant to support our Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) and Wholesale channels. This role plays a key part in the end-to-end merchandising and buying process — from product strategy and line planning to in-season management and post-season analysis. Key ResponsibilitiesBuying Responsibilities• Lead and manage all aspects of DTC buying across both eCommerce and brick & mortar locations.
• Develop and execute data-driven product strategies that maximize top-line sales, margin, and sell-through while achieving broader business KPIs. • Partner with Global Planning to analyze sales trends, monitor inventory targets, and optimize assortment by door and classification. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Creative, Marketing, Merchandising) to ensure product strategies align with seasonal campaigns, brand messaging, and marketing moments. • Conduct competitive market analysis and consumer insights research to inform assortment planning and product performance. Merchandising Responsibilities• Support global merchandising efforts across DTC and Wholesale channels to ensure cohesive brand storytelling and product segmentation.
• Assist in building and maintaining seasonal line plans by pulling sales reporting, creating visual line recaps and supporting market and trend research. • Own and maintain the seasonal style master, ensuring alignment with Design and Product Development teams as line updates are made. • Lead the creation and updates of the seasonal line review decks used to communicate key messaging, hero products, and collection highlights to internal and external sales teams. • Assist with global pricing strategy, including input on initial pricing across all markets and channels in alignment with margin and positioning goals.
• Support in chase planning, recut proposals, and exclusive product opportunities in close partnership with Planning and Design. • Act as a conduit between sales feedback and future product development —providing thoughtful, data-backed insight to influence design decisions and line architecture. Additional Responsibilities• Present weekly selling recaps and in-depth seasonal hindsight reports to extract actionable insights and optimize future buys. • Partner with retail operations and field teams to deliver product knowledge (PK) seminars and training sessions. • Work closely with the Planning team on weekly replenishment strategies, ensuring the right product is in the right place at the right time.
• Manage in-season inventory through proactive door-to-door transfers, RTVs, and markdown proposals. • Oversee the full product lifecycle from initial buy through end-of-season strategy, including markdowns and exit planning. • Own upfront product allocations by door, ensuring thoughtful distribution that reflects regional demand, historical performance, and business priorities. • Support the VP of Sales in building seasonal strategy tools and materials, including go-to-market decks, sales tools, and product training collateral. Qualifications• 2–4 years of experience in a Buying, Merchandising, or Planning role, preferably in apparel, accessories, or consumer retail. • Strong analytical and Excel skills; comfort with sales reporting, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.
• Experience with merchandising tools and systems (e. g. , PLM, ERP, Retail Planning software) preferred. • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously. • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to clearly articulate product strategy and business performance. • Team player with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset. • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment• Based in or able to work on-site in Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA
