Our experienced team members are our most precious asset, having discovered, explored and developed more than 24Moz of gold resources and reserves in Ghana; and having managed Ghana’s largest underground mine.About This RoleThe Regional Exploration Superintendent will lead the development, implementation and supervision of regional exploration strategies aimed at resource growth and efficient evaluation of mineral prospects. The role provides technical leadership and oversight of exploration programs while ensuring QA/QC compliance, operational efficiency and alignment with corporate objectives. The incumbent will drive continuous improvement in geological systems, optimize exploration costs and ensure adherence to safety, ethical and regulatory standards.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and implement exploration programs, including geological mapping, drill rig supervision, core logging, field logistics coordination, geological data collection and results evaluation.Ensure ethical and regulatory compliance in all aspects of mineral resource estimation.Provide technical input on geological data and oversee the implementation and monitoring of QA/QC protocols.Assist in the development and continuous update of 3D geological models, collaborating with the Resource team to support resource estimation.Prepare and document resource models, including orebody modeling, variable estimation, result reporting, and comprehensive documentation of estimation methodologies.Identify and generate prospective exploration targets through the integration and analysis of diverse geological datasets.Conduct internal audits of the geology and exploration management systems and reconcile findings with external audit outcomes.Develop detailed technical documentation to support exploration expenditure proposals and funding applications.Contribute to cost reduction initiatives by optimizing exploration activities minimizing delays and improving operational efficiency.Participate in the review and ranking of regional exploration targets and contribute to the design of phased evaluation programs.Support strategic planning by ensuring exploration programs align with the mine’s long-term business objectives and target prioritization.Manage drilling programs to ensure timely delivery of datasets required for Mineral Resource updates in accordance with the mine planning cycle.Oversee rigorous data capture and quality control processes in line with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).Drive continuous improvement initiatives with the Project Geologists to enhance the quality of geological inputs and supervision of exploration activities.Develop and implement procedures and policies that comply with regulatory and corporate governance standards.Support the technical development of geoscientists, identify high-potential talent, and align them with career advancement opportunities.Ensure geology personnel are adequately trained in all relevant SOPs and maintain these standards through regular field observations.Implement systems for timely and accurate collation, validation, and reporting of geological data.Monitor and enforce adherence to optimal drilling schedules to ensure timely delivery of high-priority targets.Ensure timely completion and submission of all required technical reports.Perform any other duties as may be assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.Education, Work Experience & Key CompetenciesBachelor's degree in Geological Engineering, Geology, or a related programme from a recognized institution.A postgraduate degree in Geology or a related field is highly desirable.A minimum of 10 years of experience in exploration geology, with at least 5 years in a senior geologist or equivalent leadership role.Professional registration with a recognized geological or mining association is preferred.Proven ability to develop geological interpretations of mineralization through effective implementation and supervision of geological mapping.Strong expertise in 3D geological modeling and interpretation.In-depth knowledge of exploration methodologies and best practices.Solid understanding of QA/QC standards and procedures related to geological data.Proficiency in geological and mining software such as Micromine, Leapfrog, Surpac, Datamine, and similar platforms.Experience in managing and maintaining geological databases.Demonstrated leadership in managing diverse geology-related projects.Ability to prioritize competing tasks based on their strategic value to the business.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across various scales.Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and develop high-performing geological teams.Strong organizational and administrative capabilities.Ability to understand and align with managerial directives and strategic goals.Experience in managing team dynamics and resolving conflicts effectively.
