Job Description

The Sanson group is a Developmental Cell Biology group based in the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge. Our research focuses on the mechanisms of morphogenesis in epithelia, and our main model is the Drosophila embryo. We are an inclusive and welcoming group, committed to mentoring and supporting the career development of all members.We are looking to recruit an early career researcher to join our group and work collaboratively on the role of the tricellular junction molecule Sidekick in epithelial morphogenesis (see Finegan et al 2019 PMID: 31805038). The approaches will include CRISPR/Cas9 editing of the sdk endogenous gene (for tagging and structure function analysis), live imaging, super-resolution imaging and image analysis. This position is for 2 years to allow underwriting while applying for postdoctoral fellowship funding, which we will actively support.RequirementsTo be able to effectively support postdoctoral fellowship applications, the successful candidate will have been recently awarded, or be about to complete, a PhD in the field of Developmental Cell Biology and will have at least one publication in international journals from their PhD work. We require experience of working with a model organism, expertise in confocal imaging of live and fixed developing tissues and expertise in image analysis, including script coding.
