Under the general direction of the Deputy Director of Research Computing, the Research Computing Manager sets strategic direction, establishes operational goals, explores infrastructure and software solutions, and aligns priorities for staff supporting research computing across USNH institutions. This role ensures services meet established performance standards, compliance requirements, and research objectives.Duties/ResponsibilitiesManagement (40%)Provides strategic leadership and supervision for research computing initiatives.Develops and manages project plans, budgets, and timelines to ensure successful, on-schedule, and within-scope delivery.Sets direction, establishes goals, and aligns team priorities to meet research needs and institutional goals.Supervises staff performance, offers coaching, and supports professional growth through training and development.Fosters a collaborative and motivated team environment.Development Oversight (30%)Coordinate the development and maintenance of software solutions and infrastructure that support research activities.Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and meet compliance standards.Establish and enforce standards, policies, and procedures to ensure the security and compliance of research computing resources, with a focus on data protection and access control.Support data management and digital tools used by researchers.Maintain documentation and provide user support for software and applications.Oversee software tracking, testing, and implementation.Client Services & Communication (30%)Communicate and meet regularly with faculty, researchers, and stakeholders to understand evolving needs and ensure computing services support research objectives.Act as a project manager for research computing initiatives, tracking progress and coordinating across teams.Oversee vendor relationships by communicating technical requirements during system design and implementation, obtaining quotes, estimating costs, and facilitating the procurement of research computing hardware and software.Respond to client issues and ensure timely resolution.Develop and deliver training and presentations.Minimum Acceptable Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree and five years of experience in IT or research computing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Required Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesProven leadership and supervisory experience.Strong communication and organizational skills.Experience supporting research environments and workflows.Familiarity with computing systems and digital tools used in academic research.Other RequirementsCommitment to customer service and collaborative problem-solving.Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts, tools, and methodologies.Applicant InstructionsApplicants should be prepared to upload the following documents when applying online within the Resume/Cover Letter section of your application:Resume/CVCover LetterContact Information for 3 Professional ReferencesApplications that are missing any of the required items may not move forward for consideration.
