About This OpportunityThe Role: The Aged Care Volunteer Visiting Scheme (ACVVS), funded by the Australian Government, connects volunteers with an older person who is feeling lonely and/or socially isolated, to build friendships and reduce feelings of loneliness. In your volunteer role you will be paired with an aging senior to provide them regular social support visits in their home. Activities during your visit are based on yours and your clients interests and could include conversation, playing board games, listening to music or sharing stories. Get to know someone new and make a difference in your local community!Our Client: We’re looking for an empathetic volunteer to spend time with a woman in her early 90s who lives in a residential aged care home. She enjoys a calm conversation about current events, reading magazines, reminiscing about her family and earlier life and watching TV dramas. She likes listening to music and enjoyed gardening which is why she'd love a gentle walk around.
