Staff and volunteers at The Retreat NZ share a deep respect for the recovery process and the transformative power of service to others.The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Residential and Clinical Director to oversee The Retreat NZ’s 12-bed residential rehabilitation service. This pivotal role combines operational management with professional clinical leadership, ensuring our programme continues to deliver safe, effective, and recovery-focused care.Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this is a full time role based at our facility at Warkworth.The Residential and Clinical Director will guide and mentor a multidisciplinary team (including the AOD Counsellor, Nurse, and Team Leader), lead groups and undertake 1:1 counselling, uphold clinical and ethical standards, and champion a strong, values-based culture consistent with 12-Step recovery principles.Key ResponsibilitiesLead daily residential operations, ensuring a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for guests and staff.Provide clinical supervision, reflective groups, and professional support.Maintain best-practice standards in admissions, clinical documentation, and programme delivery.Support business planning, budgets, and reporting in partnership with the CEO.Foster collaboration across detox, residential, and sober-living services.Integrate 12-Step philosophy with evidence-based therapeutic approaches into the programme.Develop and monitor clinical policies, audits, and staff training.Ideal CandidateYou will be a registered health professional with proven clinical leadership experience in addiction or residential care. You’ll demonstrate sound judgement, emotional intelligence, and a collaborative leadership style that inspires trust and respect.An understanding of — and strong personal affinity with — 12-Step recovery is essential.
