Our retail/ CPG client is looking for a Product Development Specialist to join their team.This is a fulltime role, and will be 2-3x per week onsite in Liberty Village, in downtown Toronto.This is for a retail client, specifically CPG / fashion-related products.Duties And Responsibilities Will Include" Building a multiyear pipeline of new products following our internal process for nimble and fast" Collaborating with cross-functional teams on identifying compelling opportunities through consumer research, concept screening, competitive landscape, or social trends." Actively collaborating with the Category Management and Sales Teams to align on a vision for brand growth plans and key priorities for the Product Development pipeline." Leading collaborative teams, from Insights Meetings to implementing new products." Leading requests on new product development for 1st manufacturing cost to suppliers and negotiate/set initial target cost with the active collaboration of the internal Sourcing team." Briefing suppliers with a Product Specification, source and collaborate on sample feedback and reiterations of the desired product and manage the full prototyping process with the supplier on the agreed-upon final approved specs." Collaborating with multiple teams to develop products, from concept to completed packaging" Working closely with suppliers and QA to ensure quality consistency with PQPs." Attending, as needed, trade shows, industry functions, retail reviews, and subscribing to relevant publications to contribute to developing innovative & new products." Building partnerships with suppliers" Developing all necessary new product information and initial vision, specifically the reasoning for the new product and its features and benefits, that are used on internal teams' presentations and handoff briefings." Informing and educating the key internal teams to ensure the product is presented and communicated consistently at Sales Meetings." Final Sourcing for a specific productQualifications" Excellent eye for aesthetic design and customer appeal, with a keen attention to detail, meticulous & diligent" Knowledge of the industry and market trends is beneficial." Knowledge of color theory," Thorough understanding of product development cycle" Awareness of knitting, crochet, sewing, or crafts is favorableExperience" 3-5 years of experience as a Product Development specialist or similar role, preference given to CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) and Fashion related fields.Education Required" Degree in Marketing, Business, or similar area of studyIn this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data.
