Position InformationThe Human Resources Technician (Part-Time) provides specialized support to the Human Resources Retirement team. Responsibilities include preparing retirement packets and related correspondence for upcoming retirees, as well as maintaining and updating “M” (Medical) and “B” (Beneficiary) records in the Advantage system. The incumbent assists with data entry in an external retirement database and communicates with retirees or vested employees to obtain missing information or resolve pending benefit actions. This position plays an essential role in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality of retirement-related processes.This position requires completion of a Microsoft Excel testing to move forward in the hiring process. The skills testing information and link will be sent via email after the closing date of this job announcement for applications received that successfully meet the qualifications for this position. Skills testing must be completed within three business days.Essential FunctionsPerforms customer service functions in person, by telephone or by email; provides information and assistance regarding department services, forms or other issues; responds to routine questions, complaints, or requests for service; initiates problem resolution.Utilizes computerized Human Resources systems to process personnel transactions: enters, modifies, and updates employee transactions and information to include benefit changes.Creates and maintains pension records to include entering data from enrollment applications for eligible employees and plan members; answers questions regarding pension plans and retirement processes.Maintains and updates records on terminations: contribution refunds and retirement estimates.Compiles data for reports for pension administrator.Provides administrative and technical supports to an assigned HR functional areas, such as learning and development, compensation and records administration, recruitment and selection, or benefits administration.Prepares materials and rooms for classes or meetings: sets up rooms and supplies; prints agendas, rosters, certificates, or other materials; assembles packets; prepares refreshments; orders lunches; and greets attendees.Performs other related duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in human resources or related field; supplemented by three years of experience in customer service (in a professional setting), clerical or administrative work.Preferred QualificationsExperience working with HRIS systems (Advantage, Oracle, Workday, NeoGov, or similar)Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (forms, basic formulas, data entry)Physical AbilitiesTasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.Sensory RequirementsSome tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, and visual cues or signals.
