From underground music breakthroughs to political insiders and cultural trailblazers, we spotlight the "edge" – the raw, innovative voices shaping our city. With a sleek website that reaches 10,000-50,000+ monthly readers (and growing), our features are optimized for SEO, helping stories rank high on Google and drive lasting visibility. We're a lean, passionate team bootstrapping our way to impact – no big budgets, but big dreams. If you're hustling in Kampala's creative hustle, this is your launchpad. The Role  We're seeking an enthusiastic Sales Intern to secure weekly clients eager to feature their stories on our platform. Your mission? Connect ambitious individuals and brands with our audience, leveraging our SEO-powered features to boost their Google rankings and online presence. Think musicians dropping new tracks, fashion models building portfolios, politicians shaping narratives, brand owners launching products, or event promoters hyping festivals – anyone craving in-depth articles that rank and resonate. This involves strategic outreach within Kampala's ecosystems, transforming one-off features into recurring partnerships for steady revenue.Key Responsibilities  • Client Prospecting & Outreach: Identify and approach 20-30 potential clients weekly via LinkedIn, email, WhatsApp, phone, or in-person networking. Target:   - Musicians and artists wanting exposure for releases, with SEO-optimized bios to rank on Google.   - Fashion models, influencers, and actors seeking profile features for personal branding and search visibility.   - Politicians or public figures desiring biographical articles to dominate Google results.   - Brand owners (fashion, tech, lifestyle) looking for narrative spotlights that improve SEO.   - Event promoters hyping upcoming galas, festivals, or launches with pre-event stories for top search rankings.   - Other niches: Entrepreneurs with success stories, NGOs with impact narratives, or startups aiming for founder features that climb Google SERPs.  • Pitch & Close Deals: Craft tailored pitches emphasizing SEO benefits (e.g., "Feature your story on our site to rank on Google for UGX 500K-2M – think top search results for your name/brand"). Negotiate packages starting at UGX 300K per article, targeting 4-5 new clients monthly for weekly features.  • Relationship Building: Follow up on leads, nurture prospects, and secure testimonials/referrals to maintain a pipeline of recurring clients (e.g., monthly or quarterly stories).  • Content Collaboration: Work with our editorial team to brief writers on client needs, ensuring features are SEO-friendly (keywords, backlinks) and align with our edgy voice (500-1,500 words, with photos/videos).  • Tracking & Reporting: Log deals in a simple Google Sheet/CRM tool; report weekly on outreach metrics, conversions, client acquisition, and revenue.  • Market Research: Scout trends in Kampala's scene (e.g., via social media, events) to identify SEO-hungry opportunities like rising Afrobeat stars or trending policy discussions. What We're Looking For  • Experience: 0-1 year in sales, marketing, PR, or media outreach (e.g., campus ambassador, freelance hustler, or event promoter). Bonus if you've networked in Kampala's creative/political circles.  • Skills: Charismatic communicator with killer persuasion – think storyteller, not salesperson.• Mindset: Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity (we're scrappy!). Passion for Uganda's cultural edge – music, fashion, politics, brands. Resilient hustler who sees "no" as "next opportunity."  • Requirements: Based in/near Kampala (for occasional meetups). Access to a smartphone/laptop. Available afternoons/evenings for networking events.  • Nice-to-Haves: Portfolio of past pitches/sales wins; understanding of digital media pricing and SEO basics (e.g., sponsored content that ranks). What We Offer  • Real Impact: Own your revenue stream – commissions could net UGX 200K+ per month based on your hustle, with weekly clients fueling growth. Help evolve our platform from website features to future podcasts.  • Growth Perks: Mentorship from our founder/editor on media sales and SEO strategies. Unlimited access to our network (intros to artists, models, pols, brands). Skill-building in pitching, negotiation, content sales, and Google ranking tactics.  • Culture Fit: Flexible hours around your studies/hustle. Casual vibe – think virtual coffee chats and shoutouts on our Insta. We're all about equity: diverse backgrounds welcome (women, youth, underrepresented voices prioritized).  • Budget Reality Check: We're indie – no fancy office or stock options yet. But we're transparent: your wins fuel our (and your) future. How to Apply  Use EASY APPLY via LinkedInApplications reviewed on a rolling basis – top candidates interviewed within 48 hours.
