JOB TITLE: Education Officer LOCATION: Greater Cairo area, EgyptTEAM/PROGRAMME: Program Operation, CairoField Office SAWA ProjectTYPE OF CONTRACT: Fixed Term GRADE: 4CONTRACT DURATION:Until June 2026.Child Safeguarding:Level 3: The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.ROLE PURPOSE:The post holder will be responsible for implementing the project education interventions and will be responsible for the technical, financial and administrative management of education activities implemented by Save the children (SC). The education officer will be responsible for ensuring that the project interventions contribute successfully towards the implementation of the annual plans. S/he will be responsible for building CLC capacity to manage the delivery of Accelerated Education Program, literacy Catch-up clubs and Language classes for unaccompanied and separated children and youth .Projects Scope:Projects Scope:The SAWA bridge project aims to strengthen CLCs’ leadership, ownership, and sustainability by empowering staff to become community leaders and decision-makers. It will enhance CLCs’ capacity to sustain Safe School, ECCD, CuC, and pilot AEP services. Additionally, the project promotes social cohesion and inclusion between Egyptian and displaced children through psychosocial support, awareness, and community engagement to reduce discrimination and violence within CLCs.SCOPE OF ROLE:Reports to: Project ManagerDotted Line: Education TACoordination: This position requires representation for SCI during the working groups and partners meetingsKEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:Project Planning & Implementation: Develop and lead the support and capacity building plan support plan for community learning centers to delivery Accelerated Education Program (AEP), Literacy Catch-up-Clubs and Development (ECCD). Orient partner community learning centers (CLCs) on available SC Education programs. Support partner CLCs develop a sustainability plan for continuous delivery of Education programs. Engage partner CLCs in assessing the educational needs of the children. Classify and assign education programs for according to their needs. Establish and maintain work mechanisms between partner CLC to request and provide support for maintaining quality education at CLCs. Document education interventions/activities and SCI lessons learnt and experience resulting from the project. Contribute to the writing of regular and ad hoc reports as relates to the education sector. Coordinate with MEAL person to support in project assessment activities. Compile concise quantitative and qualitative reports on a monthly, and quarterly basis. Ensure that ongoing programme monitoring/learning feeds into alterations into programme design. Implementation of Quality Non-Formal Education Interventions: Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate children’s learning levels, developing suitable assessment tools for all grades. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of educational activities, providing actionable recommendations for enhancement. Oversee the teacher recruitment and onboarding processes to ensure the selection of qualified and competent educators. Support the evaluation and quality control of education centers, including the assessment and provision of necessary materials and equipment. Facilitate effective communication and coordination with children’s caregivers to foster engagement and support. Plan and organize meetings, workshops, training sessions, and other relevant activities as required.Coordination And Collaboration: Collaborate actively with the Education TA and solicit advice and feedback as related to education interventions. Maintain close communication with other project officers to ensure effective coordination across the different refugees and migrants projects. Support the project manager in coordinating the establishment of good relationships with donors, partners, government authorities, private sector and other actors to ensure continued support for SC programmes and enlist their support and assistance in working towards achieving sustainable and replicable programme models. Network with other partners to support the project beneficiaries to implement their initiatives.In Case Of Emergency: Promote children's rights, contributing to their well-being and protection in times of emergencies, guided by humanitarian principles and code of conduct. During emergencies, he/she should act in a way that facilitates SCI’s response to emergencies, giving priority to all assigned. Be prepared to support SCI interventions in response to emergencies and show needed flexibilityGeneral: Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in dealing with colleagues, beneficiaries and partners. From 3 to 5 years’ experience in education. Familiarity with the refugees and migrant’s context in Egypt. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing and negotiation and coaching. Experience working with CLCs. Excellent analytical and creative abilities with strong results orientation. Fluency in English & Arabic, both verbal and written, is required.
