The Royal School in Transylvania seeks a passionate School Counsellor, to make a difference in the lives of our students helping them with social-emotional development and providing vital academic support. Nestled deep in the heart of Transylvania in northern Romania, the Royal School is a small, community orientated school situated in the city of Cluj-Napoca. Offering a high-quality British education since its founding in 2015, we are proud to support a multinational student population of just over 300 students. Since it opened its doors the school has always aimed to offer and implement a comprehensive learning experience, by reaching and sustaining a strong balance between academic achievement and social, emotional, physical and spiritual development. We strive towards helping students become the best versions of themselves as they can! The Royal School teaches the Cambridge Curriculum with students working towards either the Primary/Secondary Checkpoints, IGCSE’s, or International AS/A Levels. It is currently one of the only schools in the region that offers the Cambridge Early Years, all the way through to the A Level programme. The Royal School in Transylvania is a COBIS (Council of British International Schools) Accredited Member and authorised by ARACIP (Agenția Română de Asigurare a Calității în Învățământul Preuniversitar). It is currently in the opening stages of starting its journey to become a BSO school. The key responsibilities are:Adhering to ethical principles of the school counselor professionBe part of the Special Educational Needs Department (SEN) under the guidance of the SEN coordinatorProvide individual or group counseling to help students navigate personal, academic, parental challenges and social pressureSupport students develop coping strategies, self-awareness, decision making skills, and resilienceCreate trustful connections with the studentsCollaborate with school staff and families to create a supportive environment for student successPromote positive peer relationships, conflict resolution and respect for diversityWork alongside the Head of School and SENCO to support form tutors, teachers, Key Stage coordinators, and the Senior Leading Team of the school in their world with studentsDevelop and implement classroom lessons on topics connected to physical, social, and health education (decision-making, study skills, and social skills and more)Foster an inclusive and supportive school environment Promote wellbeing and mental health across the schoolKeep accurate and secure data and records of counseling sessions, and other records of importance Participate in ongoing professional development by attending training sessions within the school and outside of school to constantly be in touch with last minute developments within the professionBe the form tutor of a designated class group and guide them within the schoolBe visible during breaks and lunch periods Develop and support individual plans in order to support behaviour management as neededWork in conjunction with school policiesInform and work along with the Safeguarding team as neededThe ideal candidate will have:Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counseling or a related fieldBe a motivated, patient, tolerant, sensitive and compassionate individualExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsBe committed and dedicated to the wellbeing of our studentsShow professionalism while promoting the interests of our students and carrying out the responsibilities outlined aboveExcellent level of English and Romanian language skillsBe knowledgeable of counselling methods, techniques and approachesWe offer:A very competitive salary package - including full cooked lunch during the day and medical insurance,  A good work/life balance, A friendly working atmosphere, The opportunity to be part of the development of a young school and help shape the future. The Royal School in Transylvania is committed to the safeguarding of children and all staff receive regular appropriate safeguarding and child protection training.
