The school values innovation and teamwork, making it an engaging environment for support staff committed to positively impacting young people’s lives.The Role:As our Science Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Science teachers in delivering practical lessons. You will be responsible for preparing materials, ordering and maintaining equipment, ensuring a safe and efficient lab environment and occasionally assisting with science-related activities for the students.Key responsibilities:Prepare materials and equipment for experiments and demonstrationsMaintain and calibrate lab equipmentEnsure compliance with lab and chemical safety protocolsOrganise and maintain the lab workspaceWork independently as well as collaboratively as part of a teamOccasionally assist teachers with science activities and demonstrations in the classroomPlan and prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are metWhat you will bring:Solid science knowledge and technical skillsFamiliarity with lab and chemical safety protocolsThe ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a teamExperience or the willingness to work with a culturally diverse staff and young people in a school environmentHigh levels of organisation with strong foreplanning and time management skillsDetail-oriented and a pro-active problem solverReliabilityAdditional Requirements:A driver licenceAn acceptable Police Vetting checkIf you are a motivated person with a passion for science and meet the above criteria, please send your application to Philippa Kaisser, Principal’s EA via email: p.kaisser@papakurahigh.school.nz.
