The Plasma-Material Interactions Chair at the TUM School of Engineering and Design focuses on researching materials for the first wall of fusion reactors.The Technical University of Munich (TUM) participates with the Plasma-Material Interactions Chair in EUROfusion, a consortium funded by EURATOM to implement the research activities described in the Roadmap to Fusion during the term of the Horizon Europe research framework program.The consortium maintains the Program Management Unit (PMU), an organizational unit responsible for program planning and program tracking.We are looking for a strategically minded employee for the EUROfusion Program Management Unit working as scientific advisor to the Program Manager. In this key role, you will work directly with the Program Manager and contribute to the definition, implementation, and coordination of strategic priorities across the EUROfusion program.You will lead high-level initiatives, prepare key management documents, and act as a strategic interface between internal teams and external stakeholders. This position requires a high degree of initiative, excellent analytical skills, and strong communication skills suitable for both political and scientific environments.Your profile Master's degree (minimum) in a STEM subject or a relevant field of public policy or strategy. At least 10 years of professional experience in research strategy, stakeholder engagement, or program coordination. Familiarity with the structure and objectives of the EUROfusion program is a major advantage. Proven expertise in strategic planning, research program management, and executive-level communication. Proven ability to work in interdisciplinary and international teams. Exceptional communication skills with native English proficiency (spoken and written). Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills; ability to translate complex issues into understandable formats. Sensitivity to the European research landscape. Discretion, professionalism, and reliability in working with senior management. Excellent organizational skills; ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Confident and diplomatic communicator; ability to work constructively with internal and external stakeholders.Your responsibilities Strategic and operational support to the program manager. Preparation of high-quality strategy papers, briefing notes, reports, and presentation materials for internal and external audiences. Management and coordination of strategic initiatives within the program framework. Analysis of political, social, and economic developments as a basis for strategic orientation. Organization and moderation of strategic workshops and executive meetings, including setting the agenda, documentation, and follow-up. Function as an important interface between the program manager and internal departments as well as external stakeholders, coordination of dialogues and communication. Supporting and participating in the long-term strategic orientation of EUROfusion towards European and international research agendas.
