Job Description Job Title: Financial Director Location: GMD, Dakar Reports To: Managing Director Job Type: Expatriate General Purpose As a Financial Director, you will be responsible for several activities including, but not limited to, financial planning, financial reporting, budgeting, treasury, general ledger management, accounting system, compliance and risk management. The Financial Director works closely with senior leadership to align financial strategies with organizational goals, drive growth, ensure financial sustainability, and provide sound financial guidance. This position will report to the Managing Director and will maintain regular communication with our VP, Accounting in our corporate office in the US.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Financial Planning & Leadership Lead the development and execution of financial strategies aligned with the company's goals. Provide strategic recommendations to the Managing Director and executive team. Budgeting and Forecasting Develop and manage annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts. Monitor performance against budget, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions. Financial due diligence on all proposed mergers or acquisitions. Financial Operations & Reporting Responsible for timely preparation and submission of monthly Finpack, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with regulatory and accounting standards (US GAAP, SYSCOHADA). Prepare weekly reporting to headquarters is accurate and timely. Manage internal and external audits.
Completion of Sarbanes Oxley required documentation to fulfill the requirements of Seaboard Corporation Manage all Corporate taxation (income, VAT, sales, etc. ) with the objective of tax minimization in accordance with local practices and laws. Primary payment authoriser. Treasury & Cash Flow Management Monitor cash flow, investments, and financial risk. Manage banking relationships and financing arrangements. Optimize capital structure and funding strategies. Proactively manage currency exchange rate exposures and communicate perceived risks to location management. Information Technology Oversee the IT department. Responsible for compliance with the company global IT standards which include disaster recovery and backup routines.
Lead software initiatives which improve company reporting. Risk Management & Compliance Ensure strong internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets. Oversee tax planning, compliance, and reporting. Maintain risk management policies, including insurance and contingency planning. Negotiation, implementation and coordination of company insurance programs in accordance with local needs and company policy. Ensure compliance with company policies defined in the Financial Accounting Policies Procedures manual. Coordination and compliance with the Asset Requisition policy and procedures. Team Leadership Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team. Build financial capabilities and foster a high-performance culture.

Education & Experience 10+ years prior accounting experience required US CPA or CA required Big 4 Audit Experience preferred At least 4 years’ experience as a financial director managing a multifunctional accounting and finance department Experience reporting financials in accordance with US GAAP Experience with Sarbanes Oxley controls Foreign exchange exposure preferred 3+ years’ experience working/living in a developing country Must be fluent in French and English Working Environment/Conditions Must be in good physical health due to physical remoteness of location and operations. Expatriate must be able to operate outside normal comfort zone at times. Travel will be minimal.
