Senior Accountant

Job Title: Senior Accountant – Low-Rise Residential BuilderLocation: Hamilton, OntarioIndustry: Construction / Low-Rise ResidentialPosition SummaryThe Senior Accountant will oversee full-cycle accounting for a growing low-rise residential builder in Hamilton. This role is responsible for accurate financial reporting, project cost tracking, and supporting leadership with clear, timely financial insights.Key ResponsibilitiesManage full-cycle accounting (A/P, A/R, GL, bank and account reconciliations).Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.Track job costs, review project budgets vs. actuals, and report variances to management.Oversee progress billing, holdbacks, vendor payments, and lien releases.Maintain and improve accounting processes, controls, and policies.Support cash flow forecasting and working capital management.Work with external auditors, banks, and tax advisors as required.Provide financial reports and analysis to ownership and senior leadership.QualificationsCPA designated or in final stages of completion (preferred).5+ years of progressive accounting experience; construction or real estate development experience strongly preferred.Solid knowledge of full-cycle accounting and ASPE.Experience with job costing and project-based accounting.Strong Excel skills and familiarity with construction/ERP accounting software.Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment.Strong communication skills and ability to partner with operations and project teams.Nice to HaveExperience with low-rise residential projects (subdivisions, towns, semis, singles).Previous experience in a small to mid-sized builder or developer environment.
