The anticipated start date for this position is as soon as possible, or no later than early January 2026.Please note: A credit check will be conducted as part of the background screening. Job Title: Controller Department: Business Office for Independent Schools Location: Fully Remote Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000, DOEThis is a newly created role within our group practice, so it is critical that we find the right candidate to help shape and grow this important service offering. Systems experience with QuickBooks is required, and prior experience in educational institutions (private, college preparatory, etc.) is highly preferred.This is a great opportunity to get involved in the early stages of a start-up business practice with substantial potential for growth.Job Overview:We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Controller to join our Business Office Services team. This role will manage the school’s bookkeeping and controller functions, in addition to providing support on the transactional side depending on client needs. Strong relationship management skills are essential to foster effective communication and collaboration across departments.The ideal candidate will have a robust background in accounting and financial management, with a focus on bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, operations, school activities, financial reporting, and treasury management. This role will require collaboration with multiple departments to ensure compliance and support the school’s financial integrity.Key Responsibilities:Controllership:Financial Reporting:Relationship Management:Payroll & Benefits:Accounts Payable & Expense Management:Tuition & Fee Management:Capital Assets & Investments:Audit & Compliance:Treasury & Cash Flow Management:Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.3-5 years of experience in financial management or accounting, in the education sector.Proficiency with accounting software, preferably QuickBooks Online (QBO), BILL, and Divvy.Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, payroll processing, and accounts payable/receivable.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.High attention to detail and the ability to work independently.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Familiarity with audit processes and tax reporting (e.g., 990 forms).
