DescriptionWe are currently seeking Senior Auditors to join our firm. Senior Auditors can perform most engagements with little supervision. They direct and review the work of staff auditors and are capable of making decisions on most accounting, tax, and auditing matters. When unusual situations arise in the audit, they present the pertinent information to the senior engagement management and follow their advice.Successful candidates will enjoy minimal out of town travel and a great work-life balance. Maher Duessel offers quality experience working with well known clients, as well as a competitive compensation and benefits package.QualificationsAn undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting, and/or an undergraduate or graduate degree with sufficient course work to qualify to become licensed as a CPAMinimum 2+ years of recent public accounting experienceGovernment and non-profit audit experience preferredCPA strongly preferredAdvanced written and verbal communication skillsExcellent project management skillsA strong dedication to teamwork and leadershipAbility to supervise and train staff levelsStrong knowledge of Microsoft Offices applications (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook)ResponsibilitiesDevelop people through effectively delegating tasks and providing guidance to staffProvide performance feedback and training, and conduct performance reviewsFoster an efficient, innovative, and team-oriented work environmentUse technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service deliveryDirect daily fieldwork, inform supervisors of engagement status, and plan, coordinate, and supervise the various phases of an audit engagementDevelop and maintain strong working relationships with client personnel, assess client satisfaction, and proactively stay in contact throughout the yearAdapt the audit approach to the changing client environmentDemonstrate a thorough understanding of complex accounting and auditing concepts and apply them to client situationsUnderstand the client’s financial reporting requirements, prepare client financial statements and other required reports, and meet deadlines provided by the client and firm supervisorsIdentify operational improvements for suggestion to clientsIdentify risks or issues that should be brought to the attention of the Audit Supervisor, Manager, Senior Manager, Principal or PartnerBegin reviewing Staff workpapers, ensuring compliance with professional standards and firm policyBegin acquiring public speaking and presentation skillsManage overtime effectively to complete assigned tasks through assistance of audit teamActively work towards passing the CPA examAbout Our FirmMaher Duessel is a leading regional CPA firm that was founded to provide high-caliber audit, tax, and consulting services to clients in the governmental and non-profit sectors.
