The position collaborates with Government Affairs to influence the company’s external presence; handles media relations for the business unit and serves as a crisis responder; provides internal and external communications counsel; and is the lead communicator for the BU president and local leadership team.The role will require significant levels of self-management, content development and interaction with all levels of the business unit. Key areas of proficiency include external communications, project management, employee engagement and leadership communications to ensure the planning, development and execution of communications to support business priorities and align with the company’s strategyPosition OverviewPrimary Functions/Responsibilities: Provide strategic communications counsel and coaching to the Malaysian Business Unit leadership team. Develop strategic communications and engagement plans with the Malaysian Business Unit leadership team. Develop and execute communications across multiple internal and external channels, including news releases, Q&As, key messages, executive talking points, briefing documents, executive emails, speeches, town halls, social media content, video scripts and other materials. Handle media inquiries, issue news releases and provide strategic counsel and support to senior leaders on external engagements, such as speeches, presentations or fireside chats. Work with the Digital & Social Media team to develop and leverage content on internal and external channels. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enable impactful communications and programs that impact the BU’s culture and behaviors. Identify, assess and mitigate risks to the company’s reputation. Work with local government affairs and the CSR teams to enable the Company to leverage its CSR program giving to the best business advantage and reinforce the company’s brand, values and goals. HSE Roles: Comply with HSE policies, Life Saving Rules, procedures, goals, and programs within the MBU HSE Management System. Actively engage in and contribute to HSE communication and consultation processes. Actively participate in HSE initiatives and programs that include but not limited to, Safety Observations and HSE Trainings. Support company sustainability development (SD) initiatives and other environmental policies and practices. Requirements:Driven, results oriented with a desire to learn (especially if not familiar with the Oil and Gas industry)Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, public relations, or related discipline or foreign equivalent7+ years of experience in communications with a public listed or multi national company.
