__________EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT RESEARCH UNITCOLLEGE OF EDUCATION | TE KURA ĀKAU TAITOKAAbout our team | Mō te tīmaThe Educational Assessment Research Unit (EARU) is located within the College of Education at the University of Otago. It is comprised of a dedicated team of researchers, technical and professional staff, whose primary purpose is to undertake the Curriculum Insights and Progress Study - a large-scale assessment study that monitors trends in student achievement. The study is a collaboration between the University of Otago and the New Zealand Council for Educational Research, conducted on contract to the Ministry of Education.The role | Te mahiAs Senior Data Coordinator, you will use your advanced Microsoft Excel and data administration skills to ensure the effective management of extensive datasets.Your work will support the implementation of student assessments, marking, data analysis, reporting and various other aspects of the implementation of the Curriculum Insights and Progress Study.Working alongside the Data Manager and our collegial team, this role offers an ideal opportunity to apply your skills across a busy and varied programme of activities.Your skills and experience | Kā pūkeka me kā wheakoIdeally, you’ll have experience working in a similar role within a research environment, where continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies are encouraged. Your ability to manage high-volume data with precision will be key. A degree in statistics or information management would also be an advantage.Knowledge of te ao Māori, te reo Māori, or mātauranga Māori would be valuable in this role, as we work within a kaupapa that values and upholds Māori perspectives.We’re looking for a technically proficient problem-solver, with the following capabilities: Expertise in advanced Microsoft Excel functions and techniques, including proficiency with complex formulae such as INDEX/MATCH, nested IF/AND/OR statements, array formulas, and dynamic data manipulation using pivot tables and structured references. A high degree of competency in the use of large databases, with the ability to interrogate, analyse, and manipulate data. The ability to handle confidential datasets with integrity and discretion, proactively identifying and implementing procedures to ensure the ongoing protection and maintenance of data confidentiality. Significant knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite.Further details | PūrokoThis is a permanent (research-funded), full time (37.5 hours per week) position, located in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.
