Job Description

The Senior Director – Architect (Technical) will play a critical hands-on role within the Client’s major development and construction program. This position requires a highly detailed, technically strong architect with at least 15+ years of experience, capable of reviewing, assessing, and refining designs to enhance building efficiency, constructability, and overall project quality.This is not a strategic or country-level oversight role—the ideal candidate is a seasoned, technically oriented architect with deep design expertise, preferably coming directly from leading global design firms such as Foster + Partners, Zaha Hadid Architects, Gensler, or similar studios, rather than from a client-side or developer background. Experience in luxury hospitality projects is essential.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Design LeadershipReview, critique, and enhance architectural designs across major development assets.Identify opportunities to improve building efficiency, sustainability, and constructability.Ensure architectural concepts translate effectively into high-quality, buildable solutions.Design Coordination & Quality AssuranceWork closely with external design consultants to ensure compliance with design briefs and project requirements.Conduct detailed technical assessments of drawings, specifications, and design packages.Drive consistency and excellence across all architectural deliverables.Problem-Solving & Design OptimizationRecommend design modifications to address technical issues, site constraints, and coordination challenges.Optimize layouts, materials, and systems for functionality, aesthetics, and cost-effectiveness.Support value engineering efforts without compromising design intent or luxury hospitality standards.Stakeholder & Consultant ManagementCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, MEP, and interior design consultants.Provide technical guidance to ensure clarity, alignment, and integration across all design disciplines.Represent architectural interests in design reviews, workshops, and technical meetings.Construction InterfaceSupport construction teams by clarifying design intent and resolving technical queries.Review shop drawings, material submissions, and mock-ups to ensure design integrity.Conduct site visits to monitor architectural quality and alignment with approved designs.Experience & Background RequirementsProfessional ExperienceMinimum 15 years of hands-on architectural experience with progressive technical responsibility.Strong background in luxury hotel projects (mandatory).Experience working with top-tier global design firms (e.g., Foster + Partners, Zaha Hadid, Gensler, SOM, KPF, etc.).Proven ability to review complex designs, identify issues, and propose practical technical solutions.Major development or large-scale mixed-use project experience is an advantage.Technical SkillsExpert knowledge of architectural detailing, building systems, and technical design standards.Strong ability to interpret and critique architectural and multidisciplinary drawings.Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, BIM platforms).Understanding of luxury standards, international codes, and best practices.Personal AttributesHighly detail-oriented and technically focused.Hands-on problem solver with a proactive approach.Strong communication and coordination skills.Able to operate in fast-moving, high-pressure project environments.Committed to delivering world-class design quality.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Architecture (Master’s degree preferred).Professional registration (RIBA, AIA, ARB, or equivalent) is a strong advantage.
