Job Description

Main ObjectivesResponsible for the establishment and development of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System conforming to the company’s SMS and regulatory requirements. Ensure that evaluation of compliance with regard to occupational health and safety is monitored and timely actioned for improvement. Responsible for the development of the occupational health and safety documentation as part of occupational health and safety program that interface with other safety systems and programs.Main DutiesEstablishes and prepares comprehensive occupational health and safety programs to improve the company’s safety performance and ensure occupational health and safety risks are mitigated to an acceptable level.Investigates occurrences related to occupational injuries and follows up on staff-reported health issues (illness) to ensure root causes are identified and addressed through corrective and preventive actions, and ensures agreed corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively and in a timely manner.Leads occupational health and safety promotional activities by delivering presentations and coordinating classroom safety inductions, awareness sessions, onsite briefings, and other training initiatives. Ensures employees stay informed about health and safety standards, safety-related occurrences, and emergency protocols, and conducts and monitors safety surveys on various safety topics, providing analysis. This proactive approach enhances workplace safety culture, reduces risks, and ensures compliance with regulations.Conducts, maintains, and monitors risk assessments and hazard identification registers. Undertakes risk assessments for occupational health and safety occurrences and identified hazards within BAS-operated facilities and operational areas. Identifies hazards and performs monthly hazard analyses, maintaining a controlled register to determine and implement best practices for risk reduction through regular reviews and assessments.In order to ensure preparedness and resilience to handle emergencies and to be in compliant to regulatory requirements, the senior executive oversees the implementation of Emergency Response Planning (ERP) procedures in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Continuously updates the ERP manual, coordinates with relevant authorities for fire evacuation plan testing, conducts fire drills at BAS facilities, and implements corrective action plans based on audits and inspections by relevant authorities and customer airlines. Prepares detailed safety reports and maintains records and databases, including those related to inspections, awareness sessions, risk assessments, and safety promotion activities, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.Conducts periodic data analysis of safety reports and submits findings to department management, highlighting identified hazards, control measures, and an overview of safety performance and department activities. Reports are submitted monthly, quarterly, annually, or as needed for management purposes.Maintains close communication and collaboration with internal and external airport stakeholders to address issues that may reveal weaknesses or vulnerabilities in occupational health and safety. Stays updated on local regulations to improve health and safety standards. Additionally, participates in safety committees and meetings to communicate updates or new requirements within BAS, ensuring compliance with established regulations.Comply with Company's and airport authorities’ health, safety & security requirements.Carries out other similar or related duties as directed by the management.Minimum RequirementsEducation:Minimum Bachelor’s degree in aviation safety, occupational safety, or a related field is preferred.Experience:Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in occupational health and safety principles and related working environment.Other Essential Requirements:Specialized training in occupational health and safety standards.Excellent in English verbal and written communication including writing reports, manuals and presentations.Preferably with safety supervisor knowledge as the job requires constant communication and interaction with both internal and external auditors.Excellent in data analysis using available programs and improvement tools.Highly skilled in using Microsoft office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
